The Silent Giant

Android 16 emerges from his chamber at his full towering height, dwarfing everyone present. Krillin nervously asks if things just got worse, and Future Trunks admits he has never encountered this android. Android 17 tells 16 that Gero warned against activating him and asks what the old man meant. Android 16 says nothing. Only when 17 asks whether 16 was created to kill Goku does the giant finally respond with a single word: yes. Android 17 laughs and says that even though he hates following Gero's programming, machines need a purpose. The three androids then rise into the air and fly off together.

Vegeta's Pride

The Z Fighters stand bewildered by the sudden departure. Krillin is relieved, but Piccolo notes they are not flying toward North City. Krillin realizes they must be heading for Goku's house. Vegeta cares about one thing only: the androids dismissed him as unworthy of a fight. Seething, he transforms into a Super Saiyan. Future Trunks jumps in front of him and begs him to wait for Goku's recovery, but Vegeta punches Trunks in the stomach and rockets after the androids alone, telling himself that the Saiyan prince needs no help from anyone.

Confrontation on the Mountain Road

The androids touch down on a remote mountain road. Android 17 says there is no rush and suggests hitching a ride when a car passes. Android 18 teases him for having a human male's love of pointless amusement. When 17 makes the same joke toward 16, the giant reveals he was built entirely from scratch, making him fully artificial. Android 17 is surprised Gero could build a true android and wonders why he reverted to human-based models. His thoughts are cut short when Vegeta lands nearby. Android 18 tells the Saiyan plainly that they are heading to Goku's house to kill him. Vegeta vows they will die right here instead. Android 17 remarks that pride is the downfall of the weak. Furious, Vegeta challenges all three at once. Android 18 orders 16 to fight, but he refuses. She steps forward herself. Vegeta warns he will not hold back because she looks like a woman, then corrects himself: she is not a woman at all, but a machine.
