The Z Fighters retreat with the ailing Goku while Vegeta rages over his humiliation at Android 18's hands. As the androids cruise toward Goku's house for sport, Bulma contacts Future Trunks with shocking news: a wrecked, moss-covered version of his Time Machine has been found in the wilderness, even though he still has his own capsule.
Aboard a Capsule Corporation airplane headed for Kame House, Krillin tells Yamcha, Gohan, and Chi-Chi how powerful the new androids are, noting that killing Goku is nothing more than a game to them. Future Trunks suggests traveling further into the past to destroy the androids before Dr. Gero activates them, since they now know where his lab is. Krillin points out the Time Machine takes a long time to recharge. Gohan asks whether the current androids would simply vanish, and Future Trunks realizes only the timeline he visits would change, explaining that each trip to the past spawns a new future. Chi-Chi reassures everyone that his visit at least saved Goku's life, and the group agrees things will work out.
In a remote mountain range, Vegeta seethes over his loss to Android 18. He transforms into a Super Saiyan and obliterates the surrounding rock formations with raw power. He insists a Super Saiyan should be invincible and vows to surpass both the androids and Goku. Meanwhile, the androids cruise along in the stolen Lucky Foods van. Android 16 provides Goku's exact coordinates and suggests they fly, but Android 17 refuses, preferring to enjoy the ride.
Back on the airplane, Krillin reluctantly calls Bulma, who scolds him for not calling sooner and asks to speak with Future Trunks. She reveals that a farmer discovered a Capsule Corporation vehicle in the wilderness and sent a photograph. The machine is unmistakably Future Trunks' Time Machine, only battered and covered in moss. Trunks is stunned, insisting he still has his own machine in capsule form. Bulma notes the photographed unit looks ancient and asks how many she built in the future. Trunks tells her she barely managed one. She faxes the image, confirming a damaged duplicate of his machine, leaving everyone bewildered.
