Piccolo vs. Android 17

Manga ChapterCh. 365

Piccolo, now fused with Kami, squares off against Android 17 on a remote island. His vastly increased power catches the overconfident android off guard, but 17's unlimited energy and Android Barrier allow him to survive even Piccolo's most devastating technique. Meanwhile, Cell senses the battle and begins racing toward the island.

The Battle Begins

On the island, Piccolo removes his weighted clothing and prepares to fight. Android 17 taunts him, asking whether he is stalling for time or simply being foolish. Regardless, 17 accepts the challenge and insists on fighting alone, confident he is more than enough. Piccolo sees an opportunity: if he can destroy even one android, Cell will never reach his perfect form. As Piccolo powers up, Android 16 notices the dramatic shift in energy and remarks that this fighter is not the Piccolo they knew. While 17 is distracted by the comment, Piccolo darts in and slams an elbow into the back of 17's head, following up with a kick that sends the android skidding across the ground. Android 18 watches in surprise as Piccolo fires an Explosive Demon Wave at 17, who dodges just in time and takes to the air.

An Even Match

On the Lookout, Goku senses Piccolo's fight and deduces that his opponent must be the androids, since no other energy signature is present nearby. Gohan rushes to help, but Goku stops him, explaining that both Piccolo and the androids are far stronger than either of them right now. He urges Gohan to trust Piccolo while quietly growing impatient for Vegeta and Trunks to emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Hellzone Grenade

Back on the island, Piccolo launches a barrage of energy blasts that deliberately miss Android 17. The scattered spheres surround the android from every angle, forming a cage of ki. Piccolo detonates them all at once, creating a massive explosion visible from Kame House. Confident in his victory, Piccolo is dismayed to see 17 standing unscathed behind an Android Barrier. The android mocks Piccolo for destroying the island and suggests they relocate. Elsewhere, Cell is absorbing humans in another city when he senses Piccolo's full power. Reasoning that Piccolo would only fight this hard against the androids, Cell abandons his hunt and speeds toward the battlefield, having absorbed enough humans to surpass both Piccolo and the androids.
