Cell Takes Control

Piccolo attacks Cell head-on, but Cell blocks every strike with ease, countering with a punch to the face and a kick that sends Piccolo sailing into the distance. Android 18 suggests that Piccolo and 17 must be holding back, but Android 16 corrects her: both fighters are already using their full power, and Cell is simply superior. He orders 18 to run immediately, warning that no one will stand a chance if Cell absorbs either of them. Piccolo gathers his energy and forms a concentrated sphere between his palms, launching it directly at Cell. The blast detonates, and Android 17 leaps clear just in time. Android 18 believes Cell has been destroyed, but 16 states flatly that Cell took no real damage.

Piccolo Falls

Cell rises slowly from the ocean, completely unfazed. Tien Shinhan, having just arrived, watches from a safe distance and is stunned by Cell's power. Piccolo pleads with Android 17 to escape while there is still time, but before 17 can respond, Cell appears and punches Piccolo in the face. Grabbing the Namekian off the ground, Cell notices he may have gone too far as he sees Piccolo's neck is broken. He then fires a beam clean through Piccolo's stomach and discards his limp body into the sea.

Android 16 Steps Up

On the Lookout, Gohan and Goku feel Piccolo's energy signature vanish completely. Gohan screams in anguish for his former mentor while Goku silently urges Vegeta to hurry. Cell turns his attention to Android 17, who insists he will not go down so easily. Android 18 regrets not listening to 16's earlier warnings. Android 16 tells her to run once more, then announces he will fight Cell himself. Shocked by this declaration, 18 stares as 16 reveals that he had always intended to save this power for his battle against Goku, but the situation now demands he use it here.
