Vegeta and Trunks Emerge

Return from the Time Chamber

Future Trunks and Vegeta step out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber after a full year inside. Trunks apologizes for keeping everyone waiting and reveals that Vegeta broke through the Super Saiyan barrier within two months, then spent the rest of the time refining his power. Vegeta cuts him off, unwilling to share details. Goku asks whether the training paid off, and Vegeta declares he intends to destroy Cell and the androids himself. Piccolo and Tien exchange surprised glances. Goku cautions that Cell is a genuine monster, but Vegeta only smirks.

Battle Armor and Farewells

Bulma arrives at the Lookout carrying new Battle Armor. She notices Future Trunks immediately, startled by his longer hair and increased height. She touches his hair and asks if it is a wig, prompting Trunks to explain the time chamber. Bulma then points out that Vegeta's hair has not changed. Vegeta explains that a pure-blooded Saiyan's hair stays the same from birth, which surprises Goku. Annoyed by the trivial conversation, Vegeta demands to know why Bulma came.

Bulma distributes the suits. Goku comments on how light the armor feels, and Gohan recalls wearing similar gear on Namek. Piccolo refuses to don Saiyan battle clothing. Vegeta repeats that the suits will go to waste because he alone will handle Cell, then declines Goku's offer of a teleport and flies off on his own.

Cell's Ultimatum

Goku hands Trunks a bag of Senzu Beans and tells him to do his best but avoid reckless risks. Trunks waves goodbye and follows his father. Goku turns to Gohan and announces it is their turn to enter the chamber. Meanwhile, Cell hovers above the Tropical Islands and realizes 18 must be hiding. He inhales deeply and bellows an ultimatum: reveal herself, or he will obliterate the islands one by one. Terrified citizens below hear the voice echoing from the sky. On a nearby island, Android 18 acknowledges the threat is real. Android 16, still heavily damaged, reassures her that Cell's obsession with perfection means he will not risk killing her.
