Cell steals the Senzu Beans from the Z Fighters and declares that Gohan's comrades will suffer until his true power emerges. Android 16 seizes a desperate opportunity, locking Cell in a bear hug and threatening to self-destruct, only to discover that Dr. Brief already removed his internal bomb. Cell obliterates the android and spawns seven deadly Cell Juniors to attack the helpless warriors.
As Gohan pleads with Cell to leave his friends alone, Cell darts toward the Z Fighters gathered on the cliff and snatches the bag of Senzu Beans from Krillin's hands with blinding speed. He declares the healing beans a nuisance and returns to the battlefield. When Gohan demands to know his intentions, Cell explains plainly that he will make the other fighters suffer until Gohan's rage surfaces. Gohan insists he has no control over his own hidden power, but Cell dismisses the protest, stating that watching his friends in agony will provide the necessary spark. Goku silently curses himself for not taking a Senzu Bean while he still had the chance.
Gohan charges at Cell in desperation, but a single kick sends the boy crashing into a pile of rubble. Cell screams at him to channel genuine fury.
Without warning, Android 16 flies in and wraps Cell in a powerful bear hug. Because 16 possesses no detectable ki, none of the fighters sensed his approach. The android solemnly asks his allies to forgive him, then announces he will detonate the bomb inside his body to destroy both himself and Cell. Krillin, horrified, recalls that Dr. Brief removed 16's explosive device at Capsule Corporation because it was deemed too dangerous. When 16 attempts to trigger the self-destruct, nothing happens. Krillin reluctantly reveals the truth.
Cell mocks 16, adding that no bomb could have killed him regardless. He then fires a devastating ki blast that tears Android 16 apart, scattering his mechanical body across the arena. Cell dismisses 16 as one of Dr. Gero's failures and boots his severed head away.
Turning to the remaining Z Fighters, Cell counts seven warriors. From the tip of his tail, he produces seven miniature copies of himself and introduces them as Cell Juniors. He commands them to attack the group and tells them he does not care if they kill everyone. As the tiny creatures rocket toward the horrified fighters, Cell warns that despite their small size, his children carry his own fearsome power.
