With Cell destroyed, the world begins to heal. Mr. Satan seizes credit for the victory, Vegeta vows to abandon fighting forever, and the Z Fighters gather the Dragon Balls to undo the devastation. Shenron revives everyone killed by Cell, including Future Trunks, but Goku chooses to remain in Other World, believing his presence on Earth attracts dangerous enemies.
Cell has been annihilated by the Father-Son Kamehameha, and Gohan lies drained on the ground. The Z Fighters rush to his side, and Yamcha lifts him so they can fly to the Lookout for Dende's healing. Piccolo offers Vegeta a hand, but the Saiyan prince slaps it away. Once alone, Vegeta curses Goku for dying so selflessly, then takes to the sky and swears he will never fight again.
With the Z Fighters gone, Mr. Satan fabricates a story about personally defeating Cell. Jimmy Firecracker broadcasts the lie, and the world erupts in celebration, hailing Mr. Satan as humanity's savior.
Atop the Lookout, Dende heals the group while Android 18 regains consciousness. She drops into a defensive stance, but Krillin explains how Gohan finished Cell. Piccolo adds that Krillin carried her to safety after Cell expelled her. Gohan blurts out that Krillin must be in love with Android 18, earning a smack on the head. Android 18 dismisses the notion and flies away, leaving Krillin deflated.
Piccolo redirects attention to the Dragon Balls. Mr. Popo brings them out, and Shenron is summoned. The darkening sky draws Android 18 back. Yamcha wishes to revive everyone killed by Cell, and Future Trunks springs back to life. Goku, however, cannot return because the Dragon Balls have already revived him once before. Before anyone can find a workaround, Goku speaks through King Kai's telepathy and tells them the Earth will be safer without him, since his presence draws dangerous enemies. He lists the afterlife's perks, entrusts the planet to Gohan, and says a cheerful goodbye. Krillin laughs through tears, remarking that only Goku could be happy about being dead. Shenron waits patiently for a second wish.
