The Junior Division final between Trunks and Goten escalates as both boys unleash ki blasts in front of the bewildered crowd. After agreeing that energy attacks are too dangerous in a packed arena, they return to close combat. Trunks locks Goten in a Full-Nelson, but Goten transforms into a Super Saiyan to break free, shocking nearly everyone watching.
The crowd is captivated by the bout between Trunks and Goten. A television producer laments that no working cameras remain to broadcast the action. The announcer is overjoyed, declaring this is what the World Martial Arts Tournament is supposed to look like.
Trunks tells Goten he has improved, and Goten credits his brother's training. Trunks channels energy into both hands, alarming Gohan and Krillin, who worry a stray blast will hit the audience. Goku stays calm. Trunks merges the energy into a single beam. Goten floats upward to dodge, and Trunks redirects it just before it reaches the spectators. Onlookers compare the burst to rockets, while Mr. Satan recognizes the technique from the Cell Games.
Goten announces he recently learned the same technique. He fires a Kamekameha straight at Trunks, who sidesteps cleanly. The beam sails past the announcer, who ducks for cover, and clips a chunk off the backstage building's roof. Goten giggles nervously, and Mr. Satan mutters that it looks just like what that fighter did against Cell. Trunks suggests they stop using ki blasts before someone gets hurt, and Goten agrees.
The fight shifts back to hand-to-hand exchanges. Trunks charges at Goten, and Goten meets him head-on. They clash and grab each other by the shoulders. Trunks hurls Goten into the air. Goten catches himself but loses track of Trunks, who appears behind him and locks on a Full-Nelson hold. Trunks demands he surrender. Goten refuses.
Struggling against the grip, Goten instinctively transforms into a Super Saiyan, shattering the hold. Both boys land in the ring, and Goten reverts to normal. Trunks scolds him for breaking their agreement not to transform. Videl stares wide-eyed, Gohan looks furious, and Goku is stunned his youngest can already reach Super Saiyan. Vegeta accuses Goku of teaching Goten a dirty trick, but Goku insists he had no part in it. Mr. Satan nervously realizes this boy must be Goku's son.
