Babidi threatens the people of Earth with total annihilation unless they surrender Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten within five days. When a tournament attendant provides their names but not their addresses, Babidi kills him instantly. Meanwhile, on the Sacred World of the Kai, Supreme Kai reveals his plan to have Gohan wield the legendary Z Sword against Majin Buu.
Babidi orders Buu to clean up a city, warning him not to blow up the planet. Buu takes a deep breath and exhales with enough force to flatten it entirely. Babidi then broadcasts images of Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten across the world, giving humanity five days to reveal their location or face total annihilation. To contact him, people need only think his name. A tournament attendant reaches out with their names but cannot provide addresses, so Babidi kills him by detonating his head. He warns everyone not to waste his time and ends the broadcast.
Piccolo wants to confront Babidi directly, but Goku insists he stay. Once Goku returns to the Other World, Piccolo will be the only one who can teach the boys Fusion, their sole chance against Buu. The Dragon Balls can restore anyone who dies. Piccolo reluctantly agrees.
On the Sacred World of the Kai, Supreme Kai has Kibito heal Gohan. When Gohan awakens, he assumes he must be dead. Kibito explains that no mortal has ever set foot on this sacred ground. Gohan notices Kibito was previously killed yet is somehow alive again, though neither can explain how.
Supreme Kai reveals his plan: Gohan must draw the Z Sword and use it to defeat Buu. Kibito protests that no being has ever pulled the blade free, but Supreme Kai insists Kibito has no idea how powerful Gohan truly is. As they fly toward the sword, Kibito magically replaces Gohan's tattered clothes with an outfit matching his own. They land atop a towering stone pillar where only the hilt protrudes from the rock. Supreme Kai asks Gohan to pull it free, and Gohan remarks it sounds like an old legend.
On the Lookout, Trunks fights back tears over Vegeta while Goten cries for Gohan. Goku tells them to stop crying and learn a technique that will let them avenge their loved ones. Piccolo suggests the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, but Goku declines, noting its two-day lifetime limit. He believes there is enough time to train right here and declares it is time to begin.
