Pulling the Z Sword

Kibito explains that the wielder of the Z Sword is supposed to gain power far beyond what is needed to defeat Buu, though he remains confident the blade cannot actually be drawn. Supreme Kai tells him to be quiet and watch. Gohan grabs the hilt and strains with all his might, but the sword will not budge. Kibito smirks at the failure. Gohan then transforms into a Super Saiyan and tries again. The blade slowly shifts, and with one final surge of effort, he rips the Z Sword free. Kibito is stunned; Supreme Kai is elated.

Back on lower ground, Gohan reverts to base form and says the sword is heavy but does not seem to hold any special power. Kibito insists its strength emerges only when the wielder can swing it freely. Gohan hands the blade to Kibito, and its weight immediately drives it into the earth. Kibito cannot lift it again, and after a moment of embarrassment, concedes that mastery is essential.

Fusion Training Begins

Goku explains that a successful Fusion lasts thirty minutes, after which the warriors separate and cannot fuse again for some time. Piccolo considers thirty minutes dangerously short, but Goku is confident the boys can handle it. He orders them to transform, but Trunks and Goten glare at him. Trunks demands to know where Goku was when his father and Gohan died. Goku admits he was unconscious, and the boys call him a weakling. Piccolo bristles, but Goku calmly agrees he is weak. Still, Fusion is the only way to avenge Vegeta and Gohan.

Babidi's Cruelty

Babidi broadcasts again, threatening to destroy a large city unless the three fighters surrender. Citizens recognize their city and spot Babidi and Buu overhead. When nobody comes forward, Buu fires his magic, turning every person into chocolate and eating them all. Trunks and Goten watch in anguish. Buu destroys the remains of the city, and the boys telepathically contact Babidi. Trunks furiously promises they will kill him soon. Piccolo shouts at them to stop before their location is exposed. Goku sees the silver lining: their rage has given them real motivation. Both boys nod in fierce agreement.
