Goku's Time

Manga ChapterCh. 472

With Babidi dead, Buu is free to terrorize Earth on his own terms, gleefully destroying cities and turning people into sweets. Goku reveals that Super Saiyan 3 drains time far too quickly in the living world, and Fortuneteller Baba confirms he has only thirty minutes remaining. As the clock runs out, Goku races to teach the boys as much about Fusion as possible.

Buu Unleashed

Buu blasts Babidi's headless body into nothing, then dances with childlike glee. On the Lookout, Goku tells Piccolo that Buu killed Babidi. Piccolo hopes Buu might calm down without orders, but that hope dies quickly. Buu levels part of a city, then rampages through the streets, toppling buildings and scattering vehicles.

He spots a terrified girl and asks if she thinks he looks cool. She agrees frantically. When he asks for a kiss and she screams, he calls her a liar. Finding a magazine with the celebrity Barry Kahn on the cover, Buu reshapes his face to match. The girl screams again, so he transforms her into a caramel and eats her. With the fighters two days away, Buu decides to exterminate Earthlings for fun.

The Cost of Super Saiyan 3

Piccolo is furious, and Goku agrees they miscalculated. He doubts Buu will destroy the planet, since Buu seemed excited about fighting strong opponents. The Lookout is safe, though the surface is not. Piccolo urges Goku to begin Fusion training. Goku reveals he has about an hour left. Super Saiyan 3 was designed for the Other World; in the living world it drains energy at a staggering rate. Piccolo suggests Dende restore his stamina, but the issue is allotted time, not energy.

Thirty Minutes

Fortuneteller Baba arrives with worse news: only thirty minutes remain. Piccolo asks whether Goku could have beaten Buu at full power. Goku admits he probably could not, and it was never his place to fight. The next generation must learn to handle threats alone, because enemies like Buu will appear again. He asks Piccolo to give Gohan regards in the Other World. On the Sacred World of the Kai, Gohan trains with the Z Sword, resolved to grow stronger. Trunks returns with the Dragon Radar. The boys call Goku sensei, and Piccolo credits Super Saiyan 3 for their sudden respect. Goku announces it is time to begin.
