Goku and Vegeta confront an inner manifestation of Buu that has formed to stop them. Vegeta discovers that freeing the good Buu's pod could force a catastrophic regression. Despite Buu's desperate pleas, Vegeta tears the pod loose, and the two Saiyans grab their unconscious allies and escape through the steam vents in Buu's head as his outer body begins a violent transformation.
Vegeta explains that the good Buu was turned into chocolate and eaten rather than absorbed normally, which is why he received special treatment. Goku wonders whether the ordinary people Buu transformed are in here too. A voice answers from behind: they are not. The Saiyans spin around to find that Buu has generated a miniature version of himself inside his own body. He is furious they disconnected all his absorbed fighters. Goku mutters this is why they should have kept the Potara. Buu overhears and is delighted fusion is off the table. Vegeta snaps at Goku for revealing that. Both Saiyans power up to Super Saiyan.
Goku fires a massive blast, but it accomplishes nothing. Outside, Dende approaches with Mr. Satan and the puppy, and they observe Buu standing motionless, his form already changed. Inside, Buu explains he felt only a faint tickle, since they are flea-sized relative to his body. Goku concedes they need a different approach.
Vegeta targets the remaining pod holding the good Buu, asking what happens if it is severed. Would Buu revert to the fat form or the thin one? Either way, his power drops. Buu's composure breaks. He begs Vegeta to stop, screaming he will not be himself anymore. Vegeta finds the reaction irresistible. Buu lunges, but Vegeta slashes the pod free first. The inner Buu collapses into shapeless ooze, and outside, Buu shrieks in agony.
Vegeta orders evacuation. Each Saiyan grabs two pods and flies through Buu's innards until they reach a steam vent atop his head, bursting free at normal size while their allies remain unconscious. Dende is astonished. Outside, Buu's body bulks up, and Goku warns his ki is climbing higher.
