Beerus and Champa finalize the terms of their inter-universe tournament, with six planet-sized Super Dragon Balls as the stakes. Team Universe 7 assembles its roster while Bulma builds a radar to track the final orb. A flashback reveals how the twin gods once nearly destroyed galaxies in a fight over cake.
A flashback reveals a violent chapter in divine history. Beerus and Champa once brawled across space because Champa ate the Puff Puff Fruit from Beerus' birthday cake. Their rampage obliterated several planets, and both charged devastating energy spheres for a final collision. Whis and Vados intervened, knocking their masters unconscious. The brothers agreed never to fight directly again, settling disputes through food competitions instead.
Champa reveals he has collected six of the seven Super Dragon Balls. If he wins, he will swap the Earths between universes. If Beerus wins, he receives all six balls but must locate the seventh himself. Beerus accepts. The rules mirror the World Martial Arts Tournament format. The event will take place in five Earth days on the Nameless Planet. Beerus selects Goku and Vegeta immediately, then adds Buu and Piccolo. His final pick is a mystery: the strongest person he has ever fought. Gohan is passed over because Goku knows his son is focused on studying.
On Earth, Bulma completes the Super Dragon Radar at Capsule Corporation. The device works, but Earth sits at the edge of the universe, limiting its range. She contacts her sister Tights, who arranges for Jaco to visit. The Galactic Patrolman refuses to fly Bulma to the center of the cosmos but suggests visiting Zuno, an omniscient being who should know everything about the Super Dragon Balls. Bulma departs with Jaco. As the pair flies off, Goku remarks that both he and Vegeta married strong-willed women. Vegeta says only fiery spirits can handle Saiyan blood, a comment that leaves Piccolo stunned with understanding. On the Nameless Planet, Champa oversees arena construction and begins scouting Saiyans from his own universe.
