With the heroes scattered, Moro and Saganbo's crew begin devouring planets across the galaxy. Goku discovers Merus's hidden abilities and convinces him to train him toward Ultra Instinct. Vegeta reaches Planet Yardrat seeking techniques to counter Moro's magic. The Macareni Gang quietly plots a trip to Earth for its Sky Gold.
Moro finishes draining New Namek's life energy and departs with Saganbo's crew. He dismisses the idea of hunting the escaped patrol members, reasoning that powerful fighters are rare and he will kill them if they return. Scouts fan out in smaller ships to find energy-rich worlds. At Galactic Patrol Headquarters, the Galactic King learns about the prison break. Goku visits Good Buu, who has fallen asleep, and guesses Vegeta has gone somewhere to train since their attacks proved useless.
Aboard a patrol vessel, Vegeta senses Moro heading in the opposite direction. Irico tells him the trip to Planet Yardrat will take a full week and asks why he chose that destination. Vegeta explains the Yardrats taught Goku Instant Transmission and may know techniques that can counter Moro's magic. He retreats to his quarters and vows to surpass both Moro and Goku. Days later, Saganbo's crew ravages Planet Zoon, looting its royal treasure while Moro absorbs the planet's life force and destroys it entirely.
Back at headquarters, word of Zoon's destruction arrives. Merus says their odds of victory are virtually zero. Goku throws a sudden test punch at Merus and cannot land it. They move to a reinforced training room, but even at Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Saiyan God, Goku fails to connect a single blow. He surprises Merus by asking him to be his trainer, sensing that Merus knows something critical about Ultra Instinct. Merus agrees and suggests a new training location. On Planet Jung, the Macareni Gang steals Blue Aurum and recalls that Earth holds the same mineral under the name Sky Gold. They set course for Earth, and Vegeta arrives on Yardrat.
