Goku and Vegeta stubbornly trade turns against a fully powered Granolah, refusing to cooperate. Vegeta drags the fight into the Sugarian city, forcing Granolah to confront painful memories of his own people's destruction. As both warriors reach the breaking point, the elder Namekian Monaito arrives with a revelation: Bardock, Goku's father, was the Saiyan who saved Granolah's life.
Granolah presses his advantage over a weakened Vegeta in the ruins. Vegeta reverts to base form but refuses to give up. Before Granolah can deliver a killing blow, Goku intervenes in Perfected Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta, furious at the interruption, roundhouse-kicks Goku into a rock and declares they only fight together when something needs protecting. Granolah targets a pressure point over Vegeta's heart, but Goku pushes Vegeta clear with a Kiai. Goku explains he now has a read on the vital-targeting strategy. In their ensuing clash, Granolah strikes Goku's neck, but Goku appears behind him. He has learned to shift his pressure points enough to avoid fatal damage. Granolah acknowledges the defense but insists Goku's offense is not sufficient.
Vegeta forces himself up once more. Reasoning that Granolah only recently obtained his power and will reach his limit soon, he asks Goku to stand down. Re-entering Ultra Ego, Vegeta punches Granolah into the Sugarian city. Granolah begs him to relocate the fight, but Vegeta continues, taunting that Granolah cannot use rapid-fire attacks near civilians. Granolah positions himself directly above Vegeta and unleashes his full power at point-blank range. Both fighters collapse. A crumbling wall reveals a Sugarian family cowering inside. The sight triggers a flashback: the young Granolah running to his mother during the Saiyan invasion, turning in horror at what approaches. Granolah recognizes he is inflicting the same terror on the Sugarians. Vegeta tells him the Saiyans deserved punishment, but Granolah is now repeating history.
Enraged, Granolah hurls Vegeta from the city and gathers all his remaining power for a suicidal final attack. Goku rushes in, and Monaito arrives aboard Oatmeel's remotely piloted ship. The old Namekian calls out to Granolah, giving Goku the opening to knock him down. Monaito confesses he lied: one Saiyan did not deserve vengeance. Forty years ago, the man who saved Granolah and Monaito was Bardock, Goku's father.
