Set before the main story, this bonus chapter reveals the circumstances behind Goku's departure from Planet Vegeta. Bardock, suspicious of Frieza's order recalling all Saiyans, steals an Attack Ball and sends his three-year-old son Kakarot to Earth. One month later, Frieza destroys the planet while the Galactic Patrol dispatches Jaco to intercept the child.
The Saiyans serve as Frieza's conquering army. On a distant battlefield, Bardock and his partner Leek finish clearing a world when their scouters relay an order: all Saiyans must return to Planet Vegeta immediately. Bardock finds the summons suspicious, especially with Frieza's flagship hovering overhead. Another warrior named Taro confirms that Frieza's forces have been asking about the legends of the Super Saiyan. Aboard his ship, Frieza broods over rumors of a Super Saiyan God. His attendant Kikono dismisses the stories, but Frieza insists he cannot tolerate even a sliver of doubt. He resolves to destroy the planet in one month.
On another planet, Prince Vegeta dismisses the recall, telling Raditz to pretend they never heard it. Back home, Bardock visits Gine, who says their youngest son Kakarot has been incubating for three years. Bardock announces his plan: steal an Attack Ball and send Kakarot to safety. He senses Frieza is planning something terrible and has a premonition of death. Gine notes this worry is unusual for a Saiyan, and Bardock admits her gentleness rubbed off on him.
Under cover of darkness, Bardock carries the pod with a crying Kakarot to the launch site. Gine suggests they all flee, but Bardock says scouters would track them instantly. They tell Kakarot to stay alive, warn him about the full moon and the Galactic Patrol, and watch his pod disappear into the sky.
At Galactic Patrol Headquarters, the Galactic King assigns Jaco to Earth. A flying object from Planet Vegeta is headed there, likely a child sent to conquer a weak world. After Jaco departs, boasting about using the Extinction Bomb, one patrolman questions the assignment. The other explains Earth is unimportant, and the King figured they had nothing to lose. The narration closes by noting that Planet Vegeta was later destroyed by Frieza, but the destined child grew up with a good heart and would one day confront the very tyrant who annihilated his people.
