Kashvar

Race

A race of power-hungry alien sorcerers who believed themselves to be the dominant species of Universe 7. The Kashvar waged war against the Konatsians over a thousand years before the events of Dragon Ball Z, unleashing the monster Hirudegarn to devastate Planet Konats. Their last known member, the wizard Hoi, was killed during the events of Wrath of the Dragon.

Sorcerers Who Claimed Supremacy

The Kashvar are a race of small, sapient aliens defined by their mastery of dark magic and their absolute conviction that they are the supreme species in the universe. To the Kashvar, all other life forms are inferior, fit only to be subjugated or destroyed. This toxic philosophy drove them to conquest on a scale that threatened entire civilizations.

Physically, the Kashvar are shorter than the average Earthling. Their most well-documented member, the wizard Hoi, displays a wizened, hunched appearance, though it is unclear whether this reflects the race's general physiology or Hoi's advanced age. Their homeworld is unknown, though their extensive history with the Konatsians suggests a possible origin in the same region of space as Planet Konats.

Hirudegarn and the Fall of Konats

More than a thousand years before the events of Dragon Ball Z, the Kashvar launched a devastating war against the peaceful Konatsians on Planet Konats. Using their evil magic, they resurrected the ancient monster Hirudegarn, a colossal creature of immense destructive power. Hirudegarn rampaged across Konats, and by the time the war reached its tipping point, nearly half of the Konatsian population had been killed.

The tide turned when a powerful Konatsian wizard discovered an enchanted sword and two magical ocarinas. Working together with two brothers, Tapion and Minotia, the wizard devised a plan to destroy Hirudegarn. The ocarinas weakened the monster, and the enchanted blade split it in two. Each half was then sealed within one of the brothers. To prevent the Kashvar from reclaiming their weapon, specialized enchanted Music Boxes were created to contain Tapion and Minotia, who were then sent to opposite ends of the galaxy. Tapion ended up on Earth, and Minotia was dispatched to a distant, unknown world.

Hunted to the Last Wizard

In the millennium following Hirudegarn's defeat, the Kashvar were systematically hunted down by those they had wronged. Through imprisonment and death, their numbers dwindled until only one remained: the wizard Hoi. Self-described as the last of the Kashvar, Hoi spent centuries searching for the Music Boxes containing Tapion and Minotia, hoping to release Hirudegarn once more.

Hoi eventually found his way to Earth, where he tricked the Z Fighters into opening Tapion's Music Box. The plan succeeded in releasing Hirudegarn's upper half, which merged with the lower half that had already broken free from Minotia on the distant planet. The fully reformed Hirudegarn went on a rampage through a city before the Z Fighters intervened. During the chaos of the battle, Hoi was accidentally stepped on by the very monster he had worked so long to resurrect. His death brought the Kashvar race to what appears to be final extinction, ending a legacy of hatred, dark sorcery, and genocidal ambition that spanned over a thousand years.
