Super 17 Saga

One year after the defeat of Baby, peace has returned to Earth. Goku competes in the World Martial Arts Tournament's junior division, forced there by Mr. Satan's convenient height restriction. The tournament provides a lighthearted backdrop: Pan dominates the adult bracket before dropping out to avoid becoming another Mr. Satan, while Vegeta crashes the event looking for a rematch with Goku that never quite materializes.

An Unholy Alliance

Beneath the surface of the afterlife, a far more dangerous partnership is forming. In Hell, Dr. Gero, creator of the original Androids, encounters Dr. Myuu, the Machine Mutant scientist defeated during the Baby Saga. United by their shared hatred of Goku, the two brilliant minds devise a plan: construct a new version of Android 17 in Hell and use it to establish a psychic link with the original Android 17 still living on Earth.

The plan works with terrifying precision. Hell Fighter 17 and Earth's Android 17 resonate as two halves of a single entity, their synchronized energies tearing open a dimensional rift between Hell and the living world. Through this breach, an army of deceased villains pours out onto Earth: Frieza, Cell, Nappa, the Ginyu Force, General Rilldo, and dozens more. Cities erupt in chaos as villains who were defeated across the entire Dragon Ball timeline rampage simultaneously.

Trapped in Hell

Goku flies toward the rift to confront the source of the invasion, but Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu have anticipated this. They lure him through the portal and seal it behind him, trapping the strongest fighter on Earth in Hell. Waiting for him on the other side are Frieza and Cell, who have spent their afterlife years developing new team attacks and perfecting their grudge. They cage Goku in an Almighty Light Cage and push him into Hell's torture chambers, where he endures boiling cauldrons, tickle torture, scalding saunas, and an ice prison designed to hold him for centuries.

On Earth, the Z Fighters handle the invading army with relative ease. Pan tears through the Red Ribbon Army's returning generals. Vegeta erases Nappa with a single blast. Gohan battles a powered-up General Rilldo until Majuub, Goten, and Trunks arrive to help finish the job. But the real danger is not the army; it is what happens when the two Android 17s finally meet.

Before the fusion occurs, Android 17 commits an act that elevates the saga's stakes beyond anything the returning villains could threaten. He confronts Krillin and Android 18 in traffic, attempting to recruit his sister. When Krillin intervenes, Android 17 kills him without a moment's hesitation. The casualness of the murder is devastating. Android 18 screams with rage, attacking her brother with everything she has, but he swats her aside and leaves her crawling to her husband's body.

Super 17 Is Born

The two versions of Android 17 merge into Super 17, a sleek, silver-haired killing machine that surpasses anything the Z Fighters have ever encountered. The android demonstrates his power by defeating every warrior present with single blows. Vegeta goes Super Saiyan, then fires his most powerful Final Shine Attack, but Super 17 absorbs the energy and redirects it at the entire group. Majuub, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and even Pan are systematically dismantled. Dr. Gero gloats from the sidelines until Pan grabs him from behind, forcing him to order Super 17 to stop. But Dr. Myuu reveals the truth: he reprogrammed Super 17 to obey only him. Super 17 fires a blast that kills Dr. Gero, fulfilling his programmer's wishes with cold efficiency.

Escape from Hell

In the underworld, Goku escapes the ice prison and turns the freezing machine against Frieza and Cell, trapping them in their own trap. But the portal remains sealed. Piccolo, who has been residing in Hell, devises a plan: he deliberately causes trouble in Heaven to get himself sent to Hell, then coordinates with Dende on Earth to synchronize their energies and temporarily crack the dimensional barrier. Goku rockets through the gap, thanking Piccolo for a sacrifice that will keep the Namekian warrior trapped in Hell permanently.

Goku arrives on Earth and immediately engages Super 17, transforming to Super Saiyan 4 for the fight. But every attack, every Kamehameha, every energy blast only makes the android stronger. Super 17's design allows him to absorb any energy-based attack and add it to his own power. Goku, accustomed to overwhelming opponents with raw force, plays directly into the trap. The more he fights, the more invincible Super 17 becomes.

A Sister's Fury

Desperate, Goku attempts to self-destruct by grabbing Super 17 and channeling all his remaining energy into an explosion. It fails; Super 17 shields himself at the last instant. Goku reverts to his child form, seemingly defeated. Then Android 18 arrives, carrying Krillin's death in her eyes. She assaults Super 17 with a barrage of energy blasts, taunting him about being controlled, calling him weak and pathetic for letting others pull his strings. She threatens to detonate the bomb inside her body, a bluff since the bomb was removed after the Cell Games, but one that strikes at something deeper within the android.

The original Android 17's consciousness stirs. He turns on Dr. Myuu and obliterates him with a Shocking Death Ball, proving that he controls his own decisions. In that moment of internal conflict, Super 17's absorption barrier drops. Goku seizes the opening, punching clean through the android with a Super Dragon Fist and following up with three consecutive Kamehameha blasts that tear Super 17 apart from the inside.

Cracked Dragon Balls

The aftermath is somber. Goku comforts Android 18, acknowledging that somewhere inside the monster, her brother was still fighting for his own autonomy. They gather the Dragon Balls to wish Krillin back to life and restore the damaged cities, but something is wrong. The Dragon Balls are cracked, humming with a sickly resonance. When Goku summons Shenron, the sky splits open with red lightning, and a massive column of dark smoke erupts instead of the Eternal Dragon. The Super 17 Saga ends on the brink of something far worse, as the consequences of every wish ever made come due in the Shadow Dragon Saga.
