Fusion of Ki

Technique

Fusion of Ki is a space-time enchantment technique created by Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, that links two fighters' energy without physically merging them. Used by Goku and Xeno Goku in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, it represents a unique alternative to traditional fusion methods.

The Technique and Its Applications

Unlike every other fusion method in Dragon Ball, Fusion of Ki does not combine two individuals into a single body. Instead, Chronoa casts a spell that creates a direct link between two fighters' ki, synchronizing their energy output and bringing both to their absolute maximum simultaneously. Both participants retain their individual bodies, consciousness, and combat autonomy while benefiting from the amplified power of their linked energy.

The visual effect is striking. Both fighters gain a brilliant white and golden aura wreathed in flames, with colored lightning specific to each warrior. In the anime, Goku radiates blue lightning while using Super Saiyan Blue, and Xeno Goku produces red lightning in Super Saiyan 4. A large halo, reminiscent of Chronoa's Time Power Unleashed technique, manifests behind them with one half colored blue and the other red, symbolizing the union of their distinct energies.

Chronoa developed this technique as a contingency for situations where traditional fusion is unavailable or has already been exhausted. In the anime, she deployed it after both Gogeta (fused from the main timeline Goku and Vegeta) and Xeno Gogeta (from the Xeno timeline counterparts) were forcibly defused by Dark King Fu. With conventional fusion no longer an option, Fusion of Ki provided a way to amplify the two Gokus' combined assault without requiring them to merge.

The technique carries significant risk. Both warriors must fight at maximum ki output constantly, which means they exhaust their reserves rapidly. Chronoa explicitly warns in the manga that if either Goku falls out of sync with the other's speed, the spell collapses and both are left drained. Their most powerful application of the technique was a Combined Kamehameha that pierced through Fu's protective barriers, though in the anime the attack ultimately dealt less damage than hoped, and in the manga it proved devastatingly effective against Mechikabura's manifested form.
