This dark power can corrupt other fighters who come into contact with it, driving them berserk and dramatically increasing their aggression and power. The aura serves as both a weapon and a force multiplier, turning the battlefield chaotic by converting enemies into uncontrollable berserkers.

Explosive Wave

A burst of ki released from the user's entire body in all directions, pushing away everything nearby. Used by virtually every powerful fighter as both an offensive and defensive tool.

Eye Laser

Thin beams of concentrated ki fired from the eyes. Used by a wide range of fighters from King Piccolo to Frieza to Cell, they offer quick, precise strikes without requiring hand movements.

A concentrated ki blast fired from the fingertip, used by a huge roster of fighters throughout the series. Quick to fire and requiring minimal charge time, though generally weaker than palm-based blasts.

Finish Buster

A powerful overhead energy sphere attack used by Trunks and Future Trunks. The technique serves as a building block for the devastating Heat Dome Attack and has been a staple of Trunks' moveset across dozens of video games.

Five-Way Fusion

Five-Way Fusion is an advanced form of the Metamoran Fusion Dance that allows five individuals to merge into a single warrior of immense power. Invented by the Ginyu Force in Dragon Ball Fusions, it builds on Akira Toriyama's statement that larger groups of people could theoretically fuse together.

Flight

The ability to fly using ki manipulation. Originally a Crane School exclusive, Flight eventually became standard for nearly every Z Fighter and is one of the most universally used techniques in the entire Dragon Ball franchise.

Full Nelson Body Change

The Full Nelson Body Change is a combination technique featured in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, performed jointly by Captain Ginyu and Turles. It combines Turles' physical strength in restraining the target with a Full Nelson hold while Ginyu executes his Body Change, eliminating the possibility of the target dodging the beam.

A stronger variation of the standard energy sphere used by dozens of fighters throughout the franchise. The user pours additional ki into the attack before release, creating a more powerful and often larger projectile.

Full Power Energy Blast Volley

A rapid-fire barrage of powerful ki blasts launched from a stationary position. Unlike similar techniques where the user sweeps their hands, the blasts are fired in a focused stream that tracks the opponent.

Fusion

Fusion is the broad term for any process that merges two or more separate beings into a single entity, combining their attributes including strength, speed, intelligence, and combat experience. Multiple distinct fusion methods exist throughout the Dragon Ball universe, each with unique mechanics and tradeoffs.

Fusion Dance

The Fusion Dance is a technique developed by the Metamoran race that allows two fighters to temporarily merge into a single, vastly more powerful warrior. Goku learned it while training in Other World and introduced it to Earth's defenders as a countermeasure against Majin Buu.

Fusion of Ki

Fusion of Ki is a space-time enchantment technique created by Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, that links two fighters' energy without physically merging them. Used by Goku and Xeno Goku in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, it represents a unique alternative to traditional fusion methods.

An energy shield charge attack used by the original Z-movie Broly in his Legendary Super Saiyan form. Broly surrounds himself in green ki, leaps into the air, and slams down onto opponents with a devastating punch.

God Bind

A restraining technique used by Goku in his divine forms. By channeling godly ki through his hands, Goku creates a circular energy field that freezes opponents in place, though sufficiently powerful targets can reverse the effect.

Piccolo's strategic masterpiece: a barrage of energy spheres deliberately fired to miss, surrounding the target on all sides before converging simultaneously from every direction. A technique built on patience and ki control rather than brute force.

Holy Wrath

Fused Zamasu's most powerful energy attack: a sun-sized sphere of ki created on the tips of his fingers and expanded to enormous proportions. He declares "O great Holy Wrath, smite the wicked!" before launching it.

Goku's devastating combination of the Kaio-ken power boost and the Kamehameha energy wave, creating a supercharged beam wrapped in a crimson aura that proved decisive in his battle against Vegeta.

Kamehameha

The most iconic energy attack in anime history. Master Roshi invented it over fifty years of training, yet young Goku replicated it instantly after seeing it just once. A cornerstone of the Turtle School and Goku's go-to finishing move across every era of Dragon Ball.

Kamekameha

Goten's mispronounced and hilariously misdirected version of the Kamehameha. A charming reminder that even Saiyan prodigies have to start somewhere, the Kamekameha packs real power despite its wobbly aim.

Kiai

An invisible shockwave of concentrated ki released without any visible energy blast. Used by warriors of all levels, from Tien Shinhan at the 22nd World Tournament to gods of destruction like Beerus, it strikes with pure force.

Ki Blast

The fundamental building block of energy combat in Dragon Ball. Ki Blasts encompass every formed and discharged portion of life energy, from the simplest hand-fired projectile to the most devastating planet-busting beam.

The ability to create physical objects from thin air using magical energy or ki. Employed by Namekians, Kais, demons, and other mystical beings throughout the series, it produces everything from clothing and weapons to entire arenas.

Majin's Awakening

Majin's Awakening refers specifically to the moment Vegeta allowed Babidi's Majin curse to take hold during the Buu Saga, receiving a significant power boost in exchange for embracing the darkness he had been suppressing since his time as a villain. The transformation produced Majin Vegeta, one of the most emotionally complex versions of the character in the franchise.

Makosen

A Demon Clan energy wave technique created by King Piccolo and later refined by his reincarnation. The original fires two blasts in sequence, one as a feint and one as the real strike. Piccolo Jr. later combined both into a single, more powerful beam.

Masenko

An energy wave technique developed by Piccolo and passed down to his student Gohan, who made it his own signature attack. Performed by placing both hands above the head and firing a golden beam, it became the young half-Saiyan's go-to move.

MAX Power Kamehameha

Master Roshi's most powerful attack, fired in his bulked-up Max Power form. This is the original full-strength Kamehameha as its inventor intended it, strong enough to vaporize mountains and put out volcanic fires.

Milky Cannon

Captain Ginyu's signature energy attack, a powerful purple energy wave fired from one outstretched hand. It hits hard enough to carve massive craters into Namek's surface.

Mimicry

The ability to replicate another fighter's technique after witnessing it just once. This talent has been demonstrated by prodigies like Goku and Tien, absorbers like Cell and Buu, and even divine beings like Zeno.

Neiz Bind Wave

An electric shock attack used by Neiz, one of Cooler's Armored Squadron members, in Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge. It sends high voltage through the target's body to paralyze them. Piccolo turned it into a death sentence for its creator.

Neo Tri-Beam

Tien Shinhan's upgraded version of the Tri-Beam, capable of firing multiple rapid blasts that draw from the user's life force rather than ki reserves. Famous for holding back Semi-Perfect Cell despite the enormous power gap between them.

Nova Star

Nuova Shenron's signature fire-based energy sphere. He charges a spiraling flame ball in his mouth, shapes it between his hands like a Kamehameha, and launches it with devastating heat. Used both as a weapon and, surprisingly, as a rescue tool.

Old Kai's Unlock Ability

Old Kai's Unlock Ability is a sacred ritual performed by the Elder Supreme Kai that fully draws out and amplifies a warrior's latent power beyond its natural limits. The technique is responsible for creating the form known as Ultimate, most famously demonstrated through Gohan before his battle against Super Buu.

Para Para Boogie

A hypnotic song-and-dance technique used by the Para Brothers from Dragon Ball GT. Anyone who hears the music loses control of their body and is forced to dance, leaving them completely defenseless. Even Goku, Trunks, and Pan fell victim.

Rather than achieving sudden leaps in power, the user continuously adapts and improves throughout a battle, making them increasingly dangerous the longer a fight continues.

Shapeshifting

A learned magical ability that allows the user to change their physical appearance into virtually any form. Taught at specialized schools like the Southern Transformation Kindergarten, shapeshifting is used primarily by Oolong and Puar in the original Dragon Ball series. Piccolo's signature piercing beam, originally developed to kill Goku. Fired from two fingers at the forehead, it produces a straight beam wrapped in a spiraling second beam that drills through virtually anything.

Spirit Ball

Yamcha's signature technique, a guided energy sphere he controls remotely with finger gestures. The ball ricochets off the target multiple times before detonating on the final impact.

Super Spirit Bomb

The most powerful version of the Spirit Bomb, fueled directly by the energy of every living being on Earth and across the universe. This is the attack that finally destroyed Kid Buu.

Supervillain

Transfiguration Beam

Majin Buu's signature ability to transform opponents and objects into food, most commonly chocolate or candy. Fired from his head antenna as an energy beam, the Transfiguration Beam is one of the most unusual and terrifying techniques in Dragon Ball, capable of bypassing raw power entirely by converting the target into something edible. The technique was used extensively during the Buu Saga against both minor characters and major fighters.

Transforming Ability

The innate capacity possessed by certain species and individuals to change their physical form and access different levels of power. While "transformation" refers to the act itself, "transforming ability" describes the underlying biological, magical, or spiritual capability that makes transformation possible in the first place.

A barrage of homing energy spheres fired from one hand that track the opponent's movements. Commonly associated with Broly, Kale, and Bojack.

It features two stages, with the Second Stage embedding a Demon Realm Crystal in the user's chest and granting power that can surpass even Gods of Destruction.

A reality-tearing scream so powerful it rips holes in the dimensional fabric. Super Buu accidentally discovered this technique while trapped in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Villainous Mode

Villainous Mode is a dark power-up that places fighters under mind control while dramatically boosting their strength and malicious intent. Originating in Dragon Ball Xenoverse, it is inflicted through Towa or Demigra's Dark Magic and serves as the primary tool for corrupting warriors across altered timelines.

A video game-original rush attack where the user launches the opponent into the air, pummels them with a series of strikes, then slams them back to the ground with a finishing blow.
