Appearance

Narancia is a lanky teenager of average height with a boyish face and untidy dark hair whose fringe hangs over his eyes. He wears a dark, close-fitting tank top and pants set off by lighter pieces, a bandana, wristbands, and a short skirt, and he keeps a switchblade on hand for threats and the occasional brawl. The anime gives him pronounced abdominal muscles, unlike teammates Mista and Fugo.

Personality

Hot-blooded and rough around the edges, Narancia pours fierce loyalty into the people he cares about. His schooling never went past primary level, and his math is so shaky that he can pin down six times five yet botch sixteen times fifty-five, though this is no mark of stupidity; under life-or-death pressure he reads and counters his enemies with blunt, unexpected boldness, torching a whole street to corner Formaggio and severing his own tongue to outwit Squalo and Tiziano.

He runs nearly as hot as Fugo, loud and foul-mouthed in his frequent rages, and often the least disciplined of the squad, slacking off, guarding his food jealously, and needling the younger Giorno about his junior standing while showing a surprisingly innocent streak about anything sexual. Beneath the brattiness lies a tender core: having lost his mother and been cast aside by a neglectful father, he prizes friendship above all else, which is why the betrayal of his old crowd cut so deep and why he clung to Bruno Bucciarati, the man who first treated him with dignity. He longs to reclaim his squandered years and quietly hopes to return to school, mockery be damned.

History

Narancia's mother died of an eye disease when he was ten, and his already distant father grew colder still, leaving the boy to drift from school, crash at friends' homes, and steal food to get by. Prizing companionship above all, he was easily used: an older friend talked him into dyeing his hair blond, and the next day police hauled him to a juvenile detention center for a year, framed for a break-in and assault that the same friend had committed. He left at fifteen with an eye disease caught from beatings by the guards, and rumors that the illness was his mother's and contagious drove his old circle away, the betrayal traced back to the very friend who had set him up.

Broken and hopeless, he was picking through garbage for food when Pannacotta Fugo brought him to a restaurant and Bruno Bucciarati handed him his own plate of spaghetti, then arranged the hospital stay that cured him. Bucciarati's refusal to let a boy join the mafia only hardened Narancia's resolve, and he secretly passed Polpo's test to enter Passione.

Within Team Bucciarati he fights to shield Trish Una, unleashing Aerosmith, a tiny warplane armed with machine guns and missiles that tracks foes by the carbon dioxide they exhale, to burn Formaggio down and to gun through the assassins Squalo and Tiziano. When Bucciarati defies the gang's Boss, a torn Narancia chooses loyalty and dives into the sea to follow the group, seeing his own abandonment mirrored in Trish. He is later killed during the soul-swapping chaos of Chariot Requiem, impaled on iron bars by Diavolo, who targets him for his radar, and Giorno mourns him by coaxing flowers from the surrounding stone.
