Togaru Kamakiri

Character

Togaru Kamakiri, later the Pro Hero Jack Mantis, came out of U.A.'s Class 1-B with an insect's build and a Quirk that grows blades anywhere on his body. Loud, aggressive and permanently itching to cut something, he proves warmer with his classmates than his talk ever suggests.

Appearance

Two hooked blades jut from his cheeks, and his skull, mandibles included, reads as praying mantis before it reads as human. He is tall and thin, his skin pale yellow-green in the anime and a grayish blue in the manga, with a bright, fluffy green mohawk above dark green eyes that angle down toward the center of a face carrying no visible nose.

His hero costume is built around a large rugged cloak in dark green, worn over plain black trousers, with dark green boots split into three toes. A mask rings his eyes, and his shirt carries a zigzag pattern.

Personality

Hotblooded and openly aggressive, Togaru runs in the same register as Katsuki Bakugo, if a few notches lower. He trains at the gym alongside Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and shares his classmate's view of Katsuki as an arrogant rival worth beating. Fighting excites him: he wanted Class 1-A across from him for the Joint Training Battle, and once a match begins he is impatient enough to talk about shredding the other team while his own is still discussing strategy.

The bluster is not the whole man. After Round Four of the Joint Training exercise ended in a crushing defeat, he consoled Setsuna Tokage, Yosetsu Awase and Kojiro Bondo, telling them to treat the defeat as a lesson worth keeping instead of a reason to despair.

Abilities

His reflexes drew comment from Katsuki himself, during an altercation in which Togaru blocked an Explosion delivered at point-blank range.

Razor Sharp grows sizable blades out of any part of him. They cut through steel and iron piping and hold together against a point-blank explosion. By eight years past the Final War he has finished at U.A. and works professionally under the name Jack Mantis.
