Summary

A year after Oboro's death, Hizashi Yamada and Shota Aizawa enter their third year with the Sports Festival approaching. Class 3-A calls a planning meeting for their last chance to stand out. Hizashi is eager; Shota naps instead, and his friend apologizes for him, blaming exhaustion from training alone. Against Class 3-B, Shota beats Sensoji at close range and tells him bluntly where he falls short. Rather than bristling as before, Sensoji thanks him and admits brawling is not his game, that his Blast Quirk suits support.

The staff room is uneasy. His marks sit above average, yet combat training is the only thing he truly pours himself into, and the tragedy has left him too content with that. Shota walks in requesting the gym for another session by himself, and the teachers agree. The year runs that way: long hours, working through pain, Hizashi sometimes standing by in silence with a grim face.

Asked about his future, Shota tells his homeroom teacher he will open his own agency straight out of school, built around fighting villains. The teacher argues for logging time under a veteran outfit first, but Shota answers that the hero he means to be works independently and underground. Graduation arrives with rain coming. Classmates want a group photo; Shota leaves at once to start his career, and when Hizashi tries to stop him, Erasure takes his Voice.

The present resumes as the rain stops. Shota heads for the Hotta brothers' shop, telling Koichi Haimawari to do right by the cat, and Koichi follows hoping a customer takes the kitten. There he is startled to meet Octoid, now introducing himself as Ikajiro Takobe and apologizing for his Next Level Villain days. Jiro explains that Takobe was discharged and has been camping with Kirihito Kamachi where the warehouse stood. Ichiro reveals the plan: warehouse insurance plus the oversized-housing subsidies the two receive will fund a cafe, with Takobe cooking.

Takobe adopts the kitten on sight and proposes a cat cafe, setting everyone debating. Watching them dream sends Shota back to a U.A. rooftop, where he described his own agency to Oboro, Hizashi and Nemuri Kayama and answered a question about what it needed with a cat tower, reasoning that left the whole group laughing, himself included.

Ichiro says a seat already has his name on it. Shota looks up, remarks that the sky and his head have both cleared, and says his goodbyes, telling them to leave him out since he is leaving town soon, though he likes the cat cafe idea and may visit. Walking off, he gets a text from Nemuri: a photo of Sushi.
