Holy Kujo

Holy is a fair-skinned woman in her mid-forties who gathers her shoulder-length, light brown hair into a chignon. Marking her as a Joestar, a small star-shaped birthmark sits at the rear of her left shoulder, close to the neck, the same sign her father and son both carry.

Holy's gentle charm wins over everyone she meets. She trusts her son completely and takes pride in the kindness buried under his gruff shell, shrugging off his rude remarks because she knows he cares for her underneath. Rather than burden her loved ones, she will downplay her own illness to spare them worry, and her warmth reaches even strangers, as when she dresses Kakyoin's wounds; Kakyoin himself admits she is exactly the soothing sort of woman he could fall for. Forever smiling and easygoing, she can also turn playfully childish, tickling her grown father in public and stubbornly ignoring anyone who refuses to call her by the Japanese name she picked for herself. Having settled comfortably into life in Japan, she speaks the language well and took the name Seiko, meaning holy child, a play on her own name.

Holy was born in 1942 to Joseph Joestar and Suzi Q. Her story first surfaces near the close of Battle Tendency, when a still-bitter Joseph snaps at a Japanese stranger because his cherished daughter had fallen for a man from Japan and moved to the far side of the world. Years on, in Stardust Crusaders, she reappears as Jotaro's doting mother. After Jotaro shuts himself in a jail cell insisting an evil spirit has seized him, Holy summons her father, who explains that DIO, now wearing Jonathan Joestar's body, has awakened a Stand, and that every Joestar descendant is manifesting one too. Holy soon develops hers, but her mild nature gives her no will to master it; the power turns inward, spiking fevers and eroding her health toward a roughly fifty-day death sentence. Her decline is exactly what drives Joseph, Jotaro and their companions toward Egypt to finish DIO, since his defeat would quiet her Stand. Once the journey succeeds, she recovers fully and returns to her cheerful self.
