Tenya wins two matches he cannot tell his brother about, because Ingenium is lying in a Hosu street with the Hero Killer standing over him. Meanwhile All Might tells Izuku the one thing that recontextualizes everything: he was born Quirkless too.
Shoto leaves the arena into a corridor ambush of a different kind. His father praises the flames and dangles a sidekick position after graduation; Shoto declines both the offer and the reconciliation, explaining he used his left side only because he had forgotten Endeavor existed in that moment. He is still unsure what the fire means, he says, and perhaps he never needed the man at all.
Recovery Girl tells Izuku the arm needs surgery and rounds on All Might for cheering the boy this far. Tenya, Ochaco, Minoru and Tsuyu crowd in and are thrown out again. Izuku apologizes for prioritizing Shoto over victory; All Might answers that meddling where you do not have to is the whole substance of the job. Later, warned that self inflicted damage will no longer be healed and that One For All needs a new approach, Izuku suggests his mentor pick a better successor. All Might responds by revealing he was Quirkless as a boy, which lands on Izuku like a physical blow, and tells him he sees his old self in him.
The bracket moves fast. Tenya opens with Recipro Burst and shoves Ibara Shiozaki out before her vines matter; Fumikage does the same to Mina with Dark Shadow. Tenya calls Tensei to share the win and reaches voicemail, because Ingenium is sweeping Hosu City and has just found the Hero Killer. Katsuki and Eijiro grind through a long fight until Katsuki works out that hardening degrades with each impact and that holding the whole body rigid is exhausting his opponent, then buries him in explosions.
Shoto against Tenya turns on a detail. Recipro Burst lands a kick Shoto cannot dodge, but the follow through stops dead: his mufflers were frozen the instant the second kick connected, precision work everyone forgot he was capable of after a festival full of artillery. Shoto encases him and advances. Against Fumikage, Katsuki notices the timidity, hunts the reason by attacking relentlessly, and then detonates a Stun Grenade that floods the ring with light and strips Dark Shadow of its darkness. Fumikage concedes; the final will be Katsuki against Shoto. Then Tenya's phone rings again, and it is his mother, and Stain is looking out over Hosu when Kurogiri warps in with an offer.
Shoto rejects Endeavor's sidekick offer and maintains his disavowal, stating he used his fire only because he had forgotten his father entirely.
All Might reveals to Izuku that he was born Quirkless, and Recovery Girl refuses to keep healing self inflicted Quirk damage, forcing a rethink of how Izuku uses One For All. Izuku's hand is left permanently damaged.
Tenya Ida and Fumikage Tokoyami win their quarter finals before losing to Shoto and Katsuki respectively, setting the final. Ingenium is defeated and severely wounded by the Hero Killer Stain, who is then approached by Kurogiri with a proposal.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
The twenty-fourth episode and the eleventh of season two, adapting the end of Chapter 40, all of Chapter 41 and the first half of Chapter 42 in the U.A. Sports Festival arc. It aired June 10, 2017 in Japan and October 27, 2018 in the United States.
The most consequential change is the phone call. Tensei speaks with his brother in the manga; here it goes straight to voicemail, and a new sequence shows Tensei and his team hunting Stain. Nana Shimura also appears earlier than on the page.
Two quarter finals are dramatized rather than summarized. In print, Tenya only recounts his win over Ibara, while Momo and Mina simply appear under an off-panel losers label as they watch Fumikage's next fight; the anime stages both bouts in full. Recovery Girl is also given a punch to All Might's stomach while scolding him.
In "Fight on, Ida," Tenya Iida wins his quarterfinal match against Ibara Shiozaki using Recipro Burst, but the celebration is cut short when he learns his brother Tensei, the hero Ingenium, has been found badly injured by the Hero Killer Stain in Hosu City.
Tenya Iida defeats Ibara Shiozaki in the Sports Festival quarterfinals with a quick Recipro Burst, then loses to Shoto Todoroki in the semifinal after Shoto freezes his mufflers mid kick.
Shoto Todoroki turns down both the sidekick offer and any reconciliation, telling Endeavor he only used his fire because he had forgotten his father existed in that moment.
All Might reveals that he was born Quirkless, just like Izuku, which reframes everything Izuku thought he knew about his mentor's rise to becoming the Symbol of Peace.
While Tenya is competing at the Sports Festival, his brother Tensei, the hero Ingenium, is ambushed and severely wounded by the Hero Killer Stain while sweeping Hosu City for him.
