Chapter 117

With their classmates asleep, Katsuki leads Izuku out to Ground Beta, the ground where the Battle Trial first put them against each other. He recites the history as he sees it: a Quirkless nobody who suddenly produced a power out of nowhere, then somehow talked his way into U.A. Now that nobody holds a provisional license while he does not. Izuku starts to explain that he earned it on performance, but Katsuki cuts him off and tells him to listen instead. Since Kamino he has been fitting the pieces together, and Izuku already knows what he found.

Katsuki says it outright: the Quirk came from All Might. Having watched All For One take powers and hand them out, and having worked out that All Might knew the man personally, he reasoned that All Might could transfer a Quirk too, which explains why he has grown weaker ever since arriving at U.A. and crossing paths with Izuku. No denial comes, which confirms it.

Izuku accepts that Katsuki is right and treats the exposure as payback for once trying to reveal the truth to him himself. He asks what knowing changes. For Katsuki, everything: they both grew up looking up to the same man, and watching someone he wrote off as a pebble in the road get chosen by that man is precisely why they are going to fight, right here.

The demand stuns Izuku, who suggests they settle it during class instead. Katsuki refuses, since teachers would never let either of them go all out. He wants to see for himself what makes Izuku worth all that effort from All Might, and to learn whether his rival's ambitions run deeper than his own, because he has started to doubt whether his own were ever right. He charges, and Izuku slips the explosion with One For All Full Cowl, though the blast still tears up his leg. Katsuki remarks on the analysis behind the dodge while Izuku struggles to believe this is actually happening.

After hours, with his classmates asleep in the dorm, Katsuki walks Izuku out to Ground Beta.

He reveals that he deduced All Might transferred his Quirk to Izuku, reasoning from All For One's abilities and All Might's decline.

Katsuki demands a real fight to find out what makes Izuku worth All Might's investment, admitting he doubts his own ambitions.

The fight begins, with Izuku using Full Cowl to evade and taking a leg wound from Katsuki's first explosion.

Titled A Talk About Your Quirk, the chapter runs fifteen pages and appeared in issue 52 of 2016 on November 28, 2016. It is collected in Volume 13 within the Provisional Hero License Exam arc, sitting between Chapter 116 and Chapter 118.

Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya share the cover. The chapter starts the Deku vs. Kacchan 2 battle at Ground Beta, and the anime splits the material across Episode 60 and Episode 61.
