A Desperate Situation - Luffy Gets Caught in a Trap!

On the first tier of the plateau, Luffy, Ucy, Law, and the stowaways Abdullah and Jeet barrel through Donquixote soldiers. Spotting Cavendish pulling ahead, Luffy is disheartened to be losing the race to Doflamingo. As gunfire rains down, Kelly Funk, piloting Bobby Funk's body, fends off the shooters and warns them away from the Straw Hat. After reintroducing himself, Kelly claims to know a secret passage straight to the top of the castle.

While they run, Law presses Luffy on the handcuffs, doubting he can fight Doflamingo handicapped. Luffy insists it will all work out, exasperating Law with his optimism. Kelly leads them into the passage, and as they enter, Abdullah and Jeet tumble off Ucy. A call from Robin then settles the matter, as she reports that Rebecca and Bartolomeo will bring Law's key to the Sunflower Fields, prompting Law to grumble that it only worked out by dumb luck.

Back at the former plateau, Bartolomeo, Robin, and Rebecca are puzzled when the Tontatta suggest riding stag beetles to the fourth-level Flower Field. Leo explains the beetles offer a jumping service rather than flight, circling to keep riders aloft so they can leap from rooftops for more height. They set off, with Leo cautioning them to watch for attacks from below. At the SMILE factory, Franky cannot land a hit on Senor Pink, who keeps swimming out of reach, while the dwarves and Inhel prepare a plan.

Inside the passage, Law realizes they have hit a flooded dead end. A voice behind them claims it is merely a slanted room, and the speaker reveals himself to be Doflamingo, having sprung the trap.

The episode is part of the Dressrosa Arc. The anime adds Kabu summoning the beetles for Robin's group and extends both Franky's bout with Senor Pink and Zoro's duel with Pica. It also clarifies that Kelly Funk schemed to ambush Luffy deep inside the fake shortcut and shows him accompanied by two men, details not in the manga. A continuity error has Leo standing in midair during the transponder-snail call instead of resting on Robin's hand.
