The Capital City Falls!? Big Mom and Jinbe

Still searching for croquembouche, Big Mom keeps tearing through Sweet City, swallowing buildings and even living food, yet finds none. The ministers push the chefs for speed, but the kitchens need at least another half hour. In the city, a small girl is trapped before the rampaging Emperor until Moscato, Big Mom's sixteenth son and the gelato minister of Totto Land, snatches her clear. He confronts his mother to stall her, only to be met with bursting fists. A trio of his siblings tries in vain to drag him clear as Big Mom demands a treat or his life. Fear leaks from Moscato as a spectral substance, and though his siblings warn him not to show it, he bolts; Big Mom seizes the substance, drains forty years of his lifespan, and kills him.

With the city in fresh panic and Big Mom nearing the castle, Jinbe rides in on a whale shark bearing a heap of living croquembouche tourists. He charges along her outstretched arm and hurls the croquembouche into her mouth. She eats, returns to her senses, praises the flavor, and remembers nothing of the destruction. After thanking Jinbe for a Poneglyph he had found, her expression hardens when he says he has a request, sensing he means to leave her crew.

Sailing past Biscuits Island, the rescue team enters a pink sea, and Pedro identifies the Mixed Juice Current, where many juices flow together, warning of its dangers as giant fruit drifts by. A hungry Luffy hauls a watermelon to the Sunny, but Pedro reveals it is a fruit footballfish; the thing opens its eyes and swallows Luffy whole before he fights free, slays it, and carves its body into slices. A peach footballfish and an orange one meet the same fate, and the crew feasts on the fruit, all but a queasy Nami. Big Mom leads Jinbe to her castle to hear his request, and along the way he reflects on how meeting Luffy set him on this path, recalling Impel Down, Marineford, and the blood transfusion at Fish-Man Island where he first declined to join the Straw Hats but promised to meet Luffy again.

This episode is part of the Whole Cake Island Arc. The anime extends Big Mom's Sweet City rampage, adding a second call to the chefs, Moscato rescuing a little girl, his contact with Tamago about the sweets, Tamago's reaction to his condition, and Big Mom attempting to punch Jinbe. New material includes Tamago summoning the ministers to rebuild the capital, Big Mom obliviously surveying the damage, the crew crossing the Mixed Juice Current and meeting the fruit footballfish, and Jinbe's flashbacks of Luffy from Impel Down to his Fish-Man Island promise. The technique debuts here include Big Mom's Soul Pocus and Luffy's anime-only Gomu Gomu no Suika and Suika-wari.
