The Launcher Blasts! The Moment of Big Mom's Assassination

Decades earlier, Linlin sobs over the vanished Carmel, and two onlookers she never noticed carry the secret of that day away with them. A visiting Elbaph giant, on hand to look in at the orphanage, bolts in terror and later spreads the story among his kind, hardening their contempt for the child. The second figure is Streusen, a former pirate and cook whose Kuku Kuku no Mi reshapes lifeless matter into something edible. Rather than flee, he is entertained, sidles up to the girl, and feeds her, resolving to use her for his own ends. In the present the alliance fires, but every rocket is shredded by Big Mom's wail, which also bursts Caesar's getaway mirror. Katakuri plugs his ears with mochi, arms his crew the same way, and the Big Mom Pirates ring in their prey.

Carmel's plea that all races might one day see one another as equals had lodged in Linlin's mind as a wish to swell everyone to her own enormous size. Mourning, she copied the gestures Carmel once used and found she too could breathe life into objects, sparking flowers, trees, and earth into homies before a thrilled Streusen. A Marine party hunting Carmel and the children she meant to traffic panicked at the living creatures and opened fire, and the furious girl hurled the soldiers aside with devastating power. She put to sea, leveling and seizing one island after another, drawing a 50,000,000 berry bounty as a mere child and a danger flag from Cipher Pol. Later, with the freshly gained homies Prometheus and Zeus at her side, she crushed a Marine ambush and watched the figure rise to 500,000,000, forcing her vision onto each land that dared resist. Back in the present, the KX Launchers fail, Caesar's mirror shatters, and the alliance is left stranded.

Several beats are exclusive to the broadcast version. A vase tossed by the scream cracks Caesar in the head, Streusen prepares a meal at his first encounter with Linlin, and the Marine squad's clash with her homies is shown in full. Extra footage charts her ascent, and Brook, Carrot, and Pedro all react to the breaking mirror. Her childhood debut of the Devil Fruit power runs longer than in print, and her second wanted poster now clearly displays the 500,000,000 figure that a speech bubble had partly hidden. The installment belongs to the Whole Cake Island Arc and first aired on May 26, 2018.
