At the Alubarna palace, just as Chaka readies an attack, a cluster of figures cuts in: the Tsumegeri Guards, who slipped past the gate Miss All Sunday had sealed. Disregarding both Cobra's pleas and Crocodile's lone offer to back off, they prepare to charge. Chaka spots odd markings on them and grows alarmed at once. Cobra and Vivi sense something wrong as well, and the truth surfaces: the guards have swallowed Hero Water, a drink that briefly amplifies strength while sealing the user's death. Determined to make Crocodile feel the full weight of Arabasta's suffering, they strike, but he scatters into sand and waits, mocking, for the lethal aftereffects to take them.

Fury overtakes Chaka, who transforms and rushes the Warlord. Crocodile clocks him as a Zoan eater. Chaka's power comes from a Devil Fruit named Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Jackal, and in canine form he lunges with Howling Fangs, only for the Warlord to dissolve once more and observe that Chaka, too, is the kind to die for others.

Up north, the defeated Mr. 1 is stunned by how far Zoro grew inside a single bout and asks whether diamond is the next target; Zoro calls that pointless before the assassin faints, and then the swordsman drops from blood loss. Sanji remembers Usopp whining about being saddled with the camel Matsuge and demanding the cook rescue any lady in peril. In the present, Usopp confesses he wept because Miss Merry Christmas claimed Luffy was dead; Sanji tells him and Chopper to dismiss it and to make the palace their priority. Nami untangles her Clima-Tact wires from the unconscious Miss Doublefinger and heads toward the palace as the rebels press deeper in. There, the royals fret over the easily beaten Chaka while an unseen voice calls Vivi's name and the timer reveals just under half an hour, a span of twenty-five minutes, before detonation.

Hero Water enters the story as a drink that briefly boosts a person's physical power yet kills the drinker soon afterward. Chaka's Devil Fruit is identified as Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Jackal. The countdown to the blast now reads a span of just under half an hour, the figure given as twenty-five minutes.

The cover continues Hatchan's Sea-Floor Stroll, where Hatchan accepts the gratitude of the rescued Camie and Pappag while a shadowed watcher lurks behind a rock. Luffy and several minor figures appear only in flashback, and Koza is shown in silhouette. The chapter sits within the Arabasta Arc.
