Chapter 760: The Same Bet

Out in the streets of Dressrosa, Koala pinches Sabo's cheeks and scolds him for taking on an admiral on a whim, warning he could drag the Revolutionary Army into open war; Sabo insists that saving Luffy was all he cared about. High on the plateau, the baffled citizens release Usopp's group and plead with their former king for help, yet Riku tells them to place their trust in Luffy to bring down Doflamingo, confessing he too is wagering on the young pirate. Fujitora then arrives, alarming the Straw Hats, refuses to let the country slide into war, and informs Riku that he will match his gamble on Luffy.

Within the palace, Trebol cannot pull himself back together after Law's cut, since Radio Knife bars him from reassembling for a few minutes. As Law presses forward, Doflamingo shrugs off the Red Hawk damage, bats the attack aside, and spears Law from overhead with Full Bright while Trebol clamps down on his legs. Luffy tries to break in but is overwhelmed, his arms bound behind him as the puppeted Bellamy slashes at him. With both pirates helpless, Doflamingo, who cannot abide being looked down upon, begins to lay out his past.

The scene from Chapter 700 in which Jinbe reads of the pact between the Heart Pirates and Luffy's crew is revisited from his side. The Sabo and Fujitora clash ends with the admiral departing to join Riku in betting on Luffy, having judged that no Marine posted in this land can be made into a hero. The chasing mob chooses not to hand Usopp and Riku over to Doflamingo. Doflamingo rebounds from Luffy's strike and wounds both foes. His history comes out: his parents left Mary Geoise to dwell among commoners and were shunned by the World Nobles for it, and after his mother died of sickness, Doflamingo killed his father in a doomed effort to rejoin the Nobles, then swore to raze the world they rule.

A note records that the flashback dialogue differs between the magazine printing and the volume release, with the magazine version showing a young Doflamingo demanding his father's gun to shoot a commoner who talked back. Corazon and Donquixote Homing appear only as silhouettes inside the flashback. The cover continues the Jinbe solo-voyage serial, with the ship's passengers showing him a newspaper about the alliance. The chapter is part of the Dressrosa Arc.
