From Fort Salta, Marleyan survivors watch a winged Titan lift away from the Founding Titan with riders clinging to its back. Aboard it, Reiner tries to scold Gabi for risking herself, but she refuses to stand down, insisting she and Falco can fight. Annie confirms the Azumabito vessel sank when Falco transformed, though its crew lived, and Kiyomi accepted the loss; Gabi declares that stopping the Rumbling is how they repay her. Reiner asks Falco whether he still remembers promising to protect Gabi, and the boy does.

The group takes stock. A Titan near the Founder's tailbone swallowed Armin, and Pieck was pinned close to the nape by a War Hammer Titan before she could trigger her explosives. Levi divides the survivors into two rescue teams and states plainly that Eren's well-being can no longer factor into how they fight. Mikasa starts to object, but Connie and Jean push back, with Jean saying outright that Eren has to die. Annie grips Mikasa and tells her to pour everything into retrieving Armin. Gabi also shares what she witnessed at Shiganshina: when she blew Eren's head off, a glowing centipede-like creature leapt from his spine to rejoin it, something she suspects was the Founding Titan itself, meaning decapitation may fail to stick a second time as well.

Below, Marleyan soldiers preparing to support the fliers come face to face with Eldian refugees from Liberio, and weapons rise on both sides. Annie's father tries to defuse the standoff and plead for the wounded, but gunfire erupts, loud enough to reach the riders overhead.

Falco weaves through arrow volleys from a line of War Hammer Titans and drops Reiner and Jean near the Founder's front. Reiner's Armored Titan draws the War Hammers while Jean races for the detonator, only for Jaw Titans to sprout from the Founder's flesh and cut him off. Pieck tears herself out of her impaled Cart Titan, kills the War Hammer that skewered her, and covers Jean by shifting again and again; the Cart's endurance lets her burn through hundreds of bodies so long as her human form stays intact. Even so, she reflects that a hundred victories mean little against a million enemies.

At the tail end, Mikasa identifies Armin's captor, a Beast Titan shaped like an okapi and the only one fleeing rather than blocking. Annie shifts into the Female Titan and flings Mikasa after it, but Armored and other Titans swarm the trio before they can catch it making for Bertolt's Colossus Titan. Levi, still airborne, weighs whether he could even kill Zeke if he found him and revisits the promise to Erwin he never fulfilled. He decides his fallen comrades would only have given their hearts for a world worth the price, and he holds no regret over saving Armin instead of Erwin, having entrusted the future to a kid whose eyes matched theirs.

Inside the Titan, Armin rages at his unmoving body, certain everyone will die without him. His fist strikes sand, and he grasps that he is neither dead nor dreaming: he is inside the Paths, still aware of everything his friends are doing. As he searches for a way to exploit that, he spots Zeke seated nearby shaping a sand mound. Zeke remarks that Ymir has apparently eaten Armin too.

The alliance abandons any hope of sparing Eren; Levi splits the survivors into two teams, one for Pieck and the nape detonator, one for Armin.

Gabi describes the luminous centipede that reattached Eren's severed head, suggesting the Founding Titan's power can undo decapitation.

Pieck showcases the Cart Titan's endurance through repeated transformations, Marleyans and Eldian refugees turn guns on each other at Fort Salta, and Armin awakens in the Paths, where Zeke greets him as a fellow captive of Ymir.

Levi's airborne reflection supplies the chapter's emotional core and its title: addressing the absent Erwin, he says he regrets nothing about the rooftop decision in Shiganshina, because he handed the future to a boy whose eyes carried what his dead comrades' had. Before volume publication the chapter ran under the alternate title Devote Your Hearts.

It stands second in volume 34 and 136th overall, published in January 2021 during the War for Paradis arc. The anime adapts the material in THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2, across the episodes The Battle of Heaven and Earth and Dedicate Your Heart.
