Mike McFarland

McFarland appears in the English-language dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba as Tecchin Tecchikawahara, the swordsmith elder associated with the Swordsmith Village. The credit fits a long career spent almost entirely on English dubs of Japanese anime, where McFarland has worked on both sides of the microphone as a performer and as a director. By the time of his Demon Slayer appearance, he had already built a reputation across many of the era's most prominent dubbed titles, lending the role the weight of a veteran voice known to longtime fans of the medium.

McFarland is best remembered as the original English voice of Master Roshi and Yajirobe in Funimation's dubs of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. His other notable performances include Teppei Sugo in Psycho-Pass, Jean Havoc in Fullmetal Alchemist, Buggy the Clown in the Funimation dub of One Piece, and Jean Kirstein in Attack on Titan. These roles span comic, supporting and dramatic registers across some of anime's most widely distributed English releases, establishing him as a fixture of the Funimation voice catalog from the late 1990s onward.

Alongside his on-microphone work, McFarland is an established ADR director, script writer and line producer who has shaped the English versions of numerous titles. He has voice directed on multiple Funimation productions, among them Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Case Closed and Attack on Titan, as well as the Rebuild of Evangelion films and Summer Wars. This behind-the-scenes record positions him as a creative force in anime localization beyond the characters he voices.
