The Highest Authority Among the Kais

The Grand Supreme Kai ruled from the Sacred World of the Kai, overseeing the four directional Supreme Kais who each managed a quadrant of Universe 7. Unlike the stern or warrior-like demeanor one might expect from such a figure, the Grand Supreme Kai was overwhelmingly peaceful and spent much of his time eating. His love of food was legendary among the divine ranks, and his rotund physique reflected this preference for feasting over fighting.

Ten million years before the main events of the series, the Grand Supreme Kai proved he was far more than a peaceful figurehead. When the ancient sorcerer Moro destroyed the Iragi Star System and caused mass extinction across 320 planets, the Grand Supreme Kai and South Supreme Kai confronted him directly. In a decisive act of sacrifice, the Grand Supreme Kai surrendered most of his own godly power to seal Moro's magic abilities, enabling them to imprison the sorcerer. This act diminished his personal strength considerably but saved countless lives.

When Kid Buu eventually arrived at the Sacred World of the Kai, the Grand Supreme Kai managed to save Shin from the rampaging monster. He fought Buu head-on and even unleashed a devastating energy attack that temporarily scattered the creature into pieces. However, Buu's regeneration proved too powerful, and the Grand Supreme Kai was absorbed moments later.

Legacy Through Good Buu and the Moro Crisis

The absorption of the Grand Supreme Kai fundamentally transformed Majin Buu. The deity's peaceful nature and love of food carried over, converting the mindless destroyer into the plump, childlike Innocent Buu. This version of Buu still caused tremendous harm, but was capable of forming attachments and eventually befriending Mr. Satan. The Grand Supreme Kai's influence was the reason Buu could be reasoned with at all.

When Innocent Buu expelled his evil side and became Good Buu, the Grand Supreme Kai's spirit continued to exist within him. For years, this existence was dormant, a quiet presence that shaped Good Buu's kind temperament without actively manifesting.

During the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga in Dragon Ball Super, the Grand Supreme Kai's consciousness was finally awakened within Good Buu to help confront the escaped Moro. Recognizing his ancient enemy, the Grand Supreme Kai temporarily took control, using his remaining godly power to assist in the battle. Although much of his original strength had been lost during the sealing millions of years prior, his experience and knowledge of Moro's weaknesses proved crucial in the early stages of the conflict. His existence within Buu stands as a testament to how even absorbed beings can continue to shape events across eons.
