The divine species from which all Kais and Supreme Kais originate. Born from magical fruits on the Glind Trees, these pointed-eared beings serve as the cosmic monitors of every universe. Originally from the Demon Realm's Second Demon World, they relocated to the planet Kaishin to fulfill their celestial duties.
The Glind, also known as Core People or Shin-jin, are a race of divine beings who are not born through conventional means. According to Dragon Ball Daima, they grow directly from one of five Glind Trees, with new members appearing only once every few centuries. Those who emerge from the same tree, such as Shin, Degesu, and Dr. Arinsu, are considered siblings in their culture.
All Glind possess distinctively pointed ears. Those born from ordinary fruit display humanoid features that can vary significantly, sometimes including traits like whiskers and other non-human characteristics. The rarest among them emerge from special golden fruit, and these individuals share a remarkably consistent appearance: mohawk hairstyles, builds that closely mirror humans, with differences limited to skin and hair color.
Like Namekians, the Glind can survive without solid food, subsisting entirely on water and other fluids. However, they can and do eat for pleasure, as Shin himself demonstrates during Daima. They are technically genderless, yet display clear sexual dimorphism and use gendered pronouns. Some have even shown romantic interest in members of other species, and the Dragon Ball Fusions game reveals that they can produce hybrid offspring with Saiyans.
Their lifespans dwarf those of nearly every other mortal race. An ordinary Glind lives approximately 75,000 years, while those born from golden fruit can survive for millions of years, making them among the longest-lived beings in the Dragon Ball cosmos outside of truly immortal entities.
The Glind originally inhabited the planet Kaishin within the Second Demon World of the Demon Realm. They departed for the outside world after Abura placed restrictions on Sir Warp out of fear of external threats, and the Glind Trees from which they were born began to wither. Settling on a new planet also named Kaishin, they established themselves near the realm of Rymus, who would select members of their race to serve as monitors for the universes.
Their society operates through a lottery system for filling cosmic positions. When a Kai on one of the Kai planets passes away, the Glind draw lots among themselves to determine who will assume the vacant role. Supreme Kais, however, are chosen exclusively from golden fruit Glind, reflecting the supreme rarity and power of these individuals. The planet Kaishin sustains a population of roughly 80 Glind at any given time.
Not all Glind walk the path of righteousness. Those born with evil dispositions are banished to the Demon Realm, where they live under the authority of the Demon Supreme Kai and the King of the Demon Realm. The most dramatic example of a Glind turning to darkness is Zamasu, who began as a promising apprentice to Supreme Kai Gowasu before descending into a genocidal obsession with erasing all mortals. His rampage across the Future Trunks timeline stands as one of the most devastating arcs in Dragon Ball Super.
Mechikabura represents another fallen Glind. Originally a candidate competing with Chronoa for the title of Supreme Kai of Time, he attempted to cheat by using Dark Magic to accelerate his Tokitoki egg's growth and even fabricated a fake Tokitoki named Dogidogi. His failure and subsequent banishment led him to found the Dark Empire and become its Dark King, wielding power that threatened the entire multiverse.
The Glind have contributed some of the most pivotal figures in Dragon Ball history. Shin, the Supreme Kai of Universe 7, played a crucial role during the Buu Saga by alerting the Z Fighters to the threat of Majin Buu. Old Kai, freed from confinement within the Z Sword, unlocked Gohan's latent potential. Chronoa presides over the flow of time itself from the Time Nest, maintaining the integrity of history across all timelines.
Gowasu of Universe 10 served as a mentor figure whose trust in Zamasu proved tragically misplaced. King Kai, perhaps the most beloved Glind in the franchise, trained Goku in the Spirit Bomb and Kaio-ken techniques that would define the Saiyan's fighting style for decades to come.
The Glind possess access to transformations found in no other race. A Glind who holds or has held the title of Supreme Kai of Time can unleash Time Power Unleashed, a state that dramatically enhances their abilities. Chronoa's use of this form causes her to mature into a powerful adult form surrounded by a clock-like halo.
When Zamasu stole Goku's body to become Goku Black, the fusion of divine Glind ki with Saiyan biology produced Super Saiyan Rose, a pink-hued transformation unique to gods inhabiting Saiyan forms. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan, an alternate incarnation of Goku Black, pushed this even further with Rose 2, Rose 3, and Rose Full Power in Dragon Ball Heroes.
