Biography and Story Role

Jimmy Firecracker arrives at the Cell Games arena as the broadcast journalist for ZTV, accompanied by his cameraman. He is fanatically devoted to Mr. Satan, dismissing the Z Fighters as amateurs performing magic tricks. When Goku appears and tries to warn Mr. Satan about Cell's power, Jimmy ridicules him on live television.

As the tournament unfolds, Jimmy's worldview slowly crumbles. He watches Mr. Satan get casually swatted aside by Cell, then sees Goku hold his own against the bio-android in sustained combat. When Goku deflects a planet-threatening energy blast, Jimmy's commentary shifts from mockery to genuine gratitude. By the time Gohan transforms into Super Saiyan 2, Jimmy has completely abandoned his belief that Mr. Satan is the strongest fighter present.

Despite his biases, Jimmy shows genuine courage throughout the ordeal. He is virtually the only reporter brave enough to stay at the arena throughout the Cell Games, and he even attempts to interview Cell directly. Near the end of the battle, the intensity drives him slightly unhinged; he continues narrating events he can no longer see and at one point speaks into a stick, mistaking it for his microphone.
