Kale is a Saiyan from Universe 6 and a member of Team Universe 6 in the Tournament of Power. Shy and self-doubting by nature, she harbors an extraordinary hidden power that manifests as a berserker Super Saiyan form, making her the Universe 6 counterpart to Broly.
Kale is recruited for the Tournament of Power by Caulifla, the leader of a Saiyan gang in Universe 6 and the person Kale admires most. Despite her immense latent power, Kale lacks confidence and constantly compares herself unfavorably to her mentor. When she perceives Caulifla growing closer to Goku during the tournament, Kale's jealousy and emotional turmoil trigger her transformation into a berserker Super Saiyan, a towering, green-haired form of nearly uncontrollable power.
In this berserker state, Kale rampages across the tournament stage, shrugging off attacks from Super Saiyan Blue Goku and threatening to eliminate her own teammates. Caulifla manages to calm her down, and Kale gradually learns to control her power. By the later stages of the tournament, she achieves a controlled version of her Super Saiyan form and fuses with Caulifla using Potara earrings to become Kefla, one of the most powerful fighters in the entire competition. Kefla pushes Goku to reactivate Ultra Instinct before ultimately being eliminated.
Kale serves multiple narrative purposes in the Tournament of Power. She introduces the Legendary Super Saiyan concept to Universe 6, confirming that the berserker mutation exists across multiple universes. Her relationship with Caulifla provides emotional grounding for the Universe 6 Saiyans, who might otherwise be simple tournament opponents. The dynamic between Kale's timidity and Caulifla's brashness creates a complementary partnership that culminates in their fusion into Kefla.
As a character, Kale's arc is about finding self-worth beyond comparison to others. Her transformation is literally fueled by negative emotions, insecurity, jealousy, and fear of abandonment, and learning to channel those feelings constructively is what allows her to control her power. While she does not receive extensive development beyond the Tournament of Power, her presence enriches the Saiyan mythology by showing that these warriors come in many temperaments across multiple universes.
