Tournament Strategy

Ranfan enters the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament as an underestimated competitor. Her fighting style revolves around deception: she begins matches by acting weak and helpless, luring opponents into a false sense of security. Once they drop their guard, she attacks with surprising ferocity. If brute force fails, she resorts to her signature tactic of removing her clothing to fluster male opponents.

This strategy proves effective against Nam in their quarterfinal match, at least initially. Nam is visibly flustered by her behavior, struggling to fight back against a woman who keeps stripping. However, Nam overcomes his discomfort by closing his eyes and fighting blind, allowing him to defeat Ranfan without being affected by her distractions.

Ranfan is one of the earliest examples of Dragon Ball's comedic approach to fan service. Her character is played entirely for laughs, and she does not reappear in any significant capacity after the 21st tournament. She represents the lighter, more comedic tone of the original Dragon Ball series before it shifted toward more serious battle-focused storytelling.
