The Pride Trooper Commander

Top commands the Pride Troopers of Universe 11, a team of elite fighters who serve as guardians of justice under the God of Destruction Belmod. Unlike many Dragon Ball antagonists who fight for selfish reasons, Top is genuinely motivated by a desire to protect the innocent and uphold moral principles. His booming voice, imposing physique, and dramatic posing make him appear theatrical, but his conviction is absolutely sincere. During the preliminary exhibition matches before the Tournament of Power, Top fought against Goku in a heated battle that demonstrated his considerable strength, enough to push Goku into using Super Saiyan Blue. The match ended in a draw when the Grand Minister intervened, but it established Top as one of Universe 11's most formidable representatives.

The Tournament of Power

In the Tournament of Power, Top served as the strategic leader of Team Universe 11, coordinating with Jiren and the other Pride Troopers. His physical power alone made him a threat to most competitors, and he eliminated several opponents through raw strength combined with his Justice Flash and Justice Tornado techniques. However, the pivotal moment in Top's tournament arc came when he was pushed to his limits by Vegeta and Android 17. Faced with the annihilation of his universe, Top was forced to make a choice that conflicted with everything he stood for.

The God of Destruction Within

As Belmod's chosen successor, Top had been training to harness the energy of Destruction, the same Hakai power wielded by the Gods of Destruction. When the pressure of the tournament became too great, Top abandoned his commitment to justice and embraced this destructive power, undergoing a dramatic transformation. In his God of Destruction Mode, Top gained a massive aura of purple destructive energy, and his attacks could annihilate matter at a fundamental level. This transformation represented a philosophical crisis for the character: the selfless hero willingly became a destroyer to save his people. His battle against Vegeta in this form was one of the tournament's highlights. Vegeta, drawing on his own pride and determination to protect his family, managed to overcome Top's destructive power through sheer force of will and a devastating Final Explosion. Top's defeat marked the turning point that left Jiren as Universe 11's last hope and demonstrated that raw destructive power, without the conviction to wield it fully, was not enough to overcome a warrior fighting for something beyond survival.
