Old Rivals, New Problems

Five years after departing with Uub to train at the Lookout, Goku completes his pupil's education in a climactic sparring match that shakes the very structure beneath them. Uub, now a seasoned fighter, thanks his master and returns home. Goku, famished as always, decides it is finally time to head back to Chi-Chi as well.

At the same time, Emperor Pilaf and his loyal followers Mai and Shu arrive at the Lookout with their own agenda. They have located the Black Star Dragon Balls, ancient spheres far more powerful than their Earth-bound counterparts. Pilaf summons Ultimate Shenron, dreaming of world domination at last.

A Wish Gone Wrong

Goku stumbles onto the scene just as Pilaf is about to make his wish. Recognizing his old nemesis, Pilaf flies into a rage and blurts out that he wishes Goku were a kid again. Ultimate Shenron, indifferent to intent, grants the careless words. In an instant, Goku shrinks back to his twelve-year-old body.

The Black Star Dragon Balls scatter not across the planet, but across the entire universe. Dende contacts King Kai for guidance, and the news only grows worse. There is no simple fix for this transformation.

The Clock Starts Ticking

Goku, oddly cheerful about his predicament, heads home where Chi-Chi breaks down at the sight of her pint-sized husband. The family scrambles to understand the situation. Gohan presses his father for a plan, but Goku has none.

King Kai interrupts with a dire revelation: if the Black Star Dragon Balls are not returned to Earth within a single year, the planet's accumulated negative energy will cause it to explode. The stakes could not be higher, and the race to recover seven scattered spheres from across the cosmos has officially begun.
