The 30th World Martial Arts Tournament kicks off with Goku stuck in the junior division thanks to Mr. Satan's height rule scheme. Pan forfeits to avoid following in Satan's footsteps, Vegeta crashes the event seeking a real fight, and Majuub throws his championship match to let the beloved champion keep his belt.
The 30th World Martial Arts Tournament is underway, and Goku finds himself competing in the junior division after Mr. Satan convinces him that a height restriction applies. Krillin quickly reveals the truth: Satan rigged things so Pan could win the adult bracket and keep the championship in the family. Meanwhile, Mr. Satan calls a press conference to announce his retirement, claiming he cannot compete without Majin Buu's support. The chaos gives Trunks the perfect cover to sneak away from Capsule Corporation and attend the tournament.
At the arena, Vegeta shows up demanding a proper match against Goku, while Pan forfeits her quarterfinal rather than follow in Satan's footsteps. In the junior finals, a terrified Mugley accidentally knocks Goku out of the ring by tickling his fingers, stealing an unlikely victory.
Trunks arrives just in time for the adult division finals, where a mysterious competitor called Papayaman faces off against Mad Chilli. Goku reveals that Papayaman is actually Majuub in disguise, using only a fraction of his true power. When Mr. Satan cannot believe this newcomer might take his crown, a final exhibition match is arranged between the two.
Majuub initially fights with full intensity, fueled by thoughts of his family and village. But Majin Buu's influence surfaces in his mind, convincing him to throw the fight. Mr. Satan lands his Megaton Punch, the crowd erupts, and the champion decides he still has something left to give the fans after all.
With the tournament wrapped up, the group heads back toward West City. Vegeta, still burning for a real challenge, corners Goku on a bridge and demands they settle things once and for all. Goku agrees enthusiastically, but before the first punch can fly, his stomach growls so loudly that his strength vanishes.
Vegeta cannot help but laugh, and the two rivals agree to postpone their clash to another day. It is a lighthearted conclusion to an episode that sets the stage for far darker events ahead in the Super 17 Saga.
