Compassion in the Wild

Gohan has grown noticeably more capable in the wilderness, gathering food and crafting medicine on his own. After a thunderstorm drives him into a cave, he discovers an injured Apatosaurus and tends to its wound using a treatment his father once taught him. The gentle dinosaur accepts Gohan's help, and the two develop a quiet bond within the cave.

The Fighter Recruitment

Across the world, Yamcha has spent the past five years working as a professional baseball player for the Taitans. Krillin pulls him out of a game mid-brawl to deliver the grim news about Goku's death and the approaching Saiyan threat. Yamcha, Krillin, and Puar meet up with Bulma, who still has not forgiven Yamcha for their breakup, and the group heads off to their rendezvous with Kami.

A Cruel Lesson

While Gohan is away gathering more medicine, the carnivorous Paozusaurus that has been hunting him attacks the helpless Apatosaurus in the cave. Gohan rushes back and draws his sword to defend his friend, but he is vastly outmatched. The predator knocks him unconscious and devours the wounded dinosaur. Gohan wakes to find that his compassion could not save the creature he tried to protect.

Hard Truths

The death of the Apatosaurus teaches Gohan something no textbook could: kindness without the strength to back it up is not enough. He applied his father's lessons, cared for the wounded animal, and did everything right, yet the predator was simply stronger. This brutal outcome directly parallels Goku's inability to protect Gohan from Raditz.

Gathering the Warriors

Krillin's recruitment of Yamcha starts assembling the team that will eventually face Vegeta and Nappa. Every fighter must abandon their ordinary life and commit fully to training, reflecting the gravity of the threat that Raditz's invasion set in motion.

Strength and Kindness

This episode runs two parallel stories that share a theme: preparation for what is coming requires sacrifice. Yamcha leaves behind his baseball career, and Gohan learns that protecting others demands power he does not yet possess. Both lessons drive the characters toward the intense training that fills the months ahead.
