Ghosts of a Warrior Race

With six months remaining before the Saiyans arrive, Piccolo intensifies Gohan's combat training in the wastelands below. High above on the Lookout, Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu grow increasingly frustrated with Kami, who has offered them no formal instruction after two months of waiting.

Mr. Popo steps in with an unconventional lesson. He leads the fighters into the Pendulum Room, an ancient mechanism hidden within the palace, and transports their consciousness one hundred years into the past. They materialize in a ruined Saiyan city on a distant world, where two brutal warriors named Shorty and Scarface immediately attack.

The simulation turns deadly in moments. Chiaotzu falls first when Scarface crushes his skull. Krillin is dragged through the floor and beaten to death. Tien and Yamcha fight together but are ultimately overpowered and killed as well. When Mr. Popo returns them to the present, Kami reveals that their opponents were only half as strong as genuine Saiyans. Rather than break their spirits, this terrifying revelation strengthens the fighters' resolve to train harder than ever before.

Shattered Confidence, Renewed Purpose

Chiaotzu is the first to fall when Scarface ambushes him through a crumbling wall. Krillin is pulled beneath the floor and killed, leaving Tien and Yamcha to face the two Saiyans alone. Despite combining their strongest attacks, the warriors emerge completely unharmed and dispatch both fighters with ease.

The true blow comes after they awaken: Kami reveals their simulated opponents possessed only half the power of real Saiyans. Instead of despair, the Z Fighters channel this knowledge into fierce determination, vowing to close the impossible gap before time runs out.
