Goku reveals the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, a place where one year of training can be completed in a single day. After convincing Vegeta and Future Trunks to go in first, Goku and Gohan wait on the Lookout while the androids close in on Kame House. Piccolo confronts Android 17 on a nearby island.
At Kame House, Master Roshi questions whether transcending Super Saiyan is possible. Goku admits he does not know, but reveals a place where a full year of training fits inside a single day. He asks Chi-Chi to let him bring Gohan along. She reluctantly agrees on two conditions: Goku must make Gohan as strong as possible, and he must get a job once the crisis ends. Goku uses Instant Transmission to teleport onto the airplane carrying the other Z Fighters. They are thrilled to see him recovered, but Goku confesses he cannot defeat the androids or Cell yet. He explains his plan to use the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and Piccolo immediately recognizes the name.
Piccolo notes that Goku could barely last a month inside the chamber as a child. Goku shrugs this off and says he intends to bring Vegeta and Future Trunks as well. He and Gohan teleport to the mountainside where Vegeta has been standing on a cliff for three days, refusing to interact with his son. Goku tells Vegeta about the chamber, and Vegeta agrees to enter with Trunks on the condition that they go first. Goku accepts without hesitation.
Elsewhere, Androids 16, 17, and 18 arrive at Goku's house and find it empty. Android 16 identifies Capsule Corporation and Kame House as likely locations, and the trio head for the closer destination. On the Lookout, Mr. Popo leads the fighters to the chamber entrance. Vegeta questions why Goku would help a rival, and Goku replies that none of them can win alone. Vegeta and Trunks step inside, where Trunks is struck by the extreme heat, thin atmosphere, and crushing gravity. The endless white void unnerves him, but Vegeta declares it perfect. The next day, Piccolo senses the three androids outside Kame House. Android 17 demands Goku's location, and Piccolo challenges him to a fight on a nearby uninhabited island.
