Vegeta and Trunks Spar

Inside the Capsule Corporation gravity chamber, Vegeta trains at full intensity. Trunks strains under the amplified gravity but refuses to leave, saying Goten is entering the World Martial Arts Tournament. To prove he belongs, Trunks goes Super Saiyan and moves through the chamber with ease. Vegeta is caught off guard by how naturally his son handles the transformation.

Vegeta issues a challenge: land one punch on his face and he will take Trunks to the amusement park. Trunks attacks with blazing speed. Vegeta blocks for a while, but one fist slips through and connects. Vegeta counters hard, sending Trunks tumbling, but admits the hit may have been too strong. He agrees to honor the deal, then asks who is stronger between Trunks and Goten. Trunks claims a slight edge thanks to age, adding that Goten cannot fly yet. Vegeta quietly reflects on the next generation's power.

Training with Videl

Videl now floats a good distance above the ground, while Goten flies circles around her. She asks when she will reach his level, and Gohan honestly cannot say. Videl vows to visit every day until she masters flight. Gohan tells Goten to dial it back while she is around.

During a break, Videl asks Gohan to keep her training secret from her father. She wants it as a surprise and does not want Mr. Satan knowing she visits a boy's house. He refuses to let her date anyone weaker than himself, which rules out everyone. Gohan asks if she has ever sparred with him. She has not. He grins, certain she has surpassed Hercule without realizing it.

A Father's Return

Gohan asks if Videl would mind her father losing. She laughs, saying she would enjoy it. She asks who taught Gohan, and he says it was his father, before he died. Goten then blurts out that their father is coming back for the tournament. Videl assumes a divorce situation and shrugs it off. Ten days later, Videl masters free flight and departs. Gohan and Goten throw themselves into serious preparation for the tournament and their reunion with Goku.
