The day of the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament arrives at last. The Z Fighters travel to Papaya Island together, where they navigate the chaos of Mr. Satan's adoring fans and a massive crowd. Just as the group begins to worry he will not show, Goku touches down alongside Fortuneteller Baba, reuniting with his friends and family for the first time since his death.
With the World Martial Arts Tournament approaching, every participant wraps up their training. Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Goten, Trunks, Videl, and Goku each push through final sessions, while Mr. Satan relaxes with a magazine. On the day of the tournament, the group boards a plane piloted by Bulma and heads for Papaya Island.
During the flight, Chi-Chi asks Yamcha if he plans to compete, but he declines. Gohan wonders whether Goku will recognize Krillin with his new hair, drawing a chuckle. He then asks Vegeta, Goten, and Trunks to avoid going Super Saiyan during the matches. Bulma agrees, noting the fights will be televised and their golden-haired forms could be linked to the Cell Games. Vegeta briefly suggests destroying every television, but Gohan vetoes the idea. Vegeta relents, saying he will win regardless. The boys agree as well.
The tournament grounds overflow with spectators. Mr. Satan arrives to a deafening reception, his fans chanting his name. An interviewer asks for his prediction, and he boasts a one hundred and twenty percent chance of victory. The interviewer tries to question Videl about her new short haircut, but Videl ignores her.
Goten spots Piccolo, and Gohan rushes over to ask if he has seen Goku. He has not. Worry begins to set in. Then Goku lands right in front of them, Fortuneteller Baba floating at his side. The sight of him overwhelms nearly everyone, and tears flow as friends rush forward to embrace him. Piccolo, Vegeta, Android 18, and the boys hold back, though their emotion is clear. Baba reminds them Goku has twenty-four hours and departs.
Goku looks at Goten and marvels at the resemblance, wondering if the boy is truly his son. Goten, shy at meeting his father for the first time, hides behind Chi-Chi. Piccolo urges everyone to register. At the sign-up table, Trunks discovers a new Youth Division for competitors under fifteen. He is annoyed at being separated from the adult bracket, though Krillin seems quietly relieved. The fighters head inside as their friends and families wish them luck.
