Survival in the Ruins

In an alternate future, West City lies in devastation. Future Trunks races through the rubble to evade a powerful foe known as Black. He narrowly dodges an explosion and reaches Future Mai, revealing that Future Bulma has been killed. Over a meager meal, he outlines a desperate plan: travel seventeen years into the past to find allies capable of stopping Black.

Time Travel and Its Consequences

At present-day Capsule Corporation, Goku and Vegeta spar while Jaco lectures Bulma about the dangers of time manipulation. Inside, a tutor explains parallel worlds to Trunks, Pilaf, Shu, and Mai. Bulma asks whether Hit's Time-Skip should have been prosecuted; Jaco clarifies it only advances time by a tenth of a second and cannot alter the past. She then asks Whis if his temporal reset created a new timeline. Whis says no, since he resets time rather than changing it, though the technique disrupts the time axis temporarily. Her surprised reaction catches Beerus's attention, and he confronts her directly. She nervously denies knowing anything.

Black Closes In

In the future, Future Trunks and Future Mai travel through the sewers to reach Capsule Corporation. In the present, Whis explains over a meal that Zeno can obliterate universes at will and has already erased six of the original eighteen. Vegeta quietly realizes how close they came to disaster given Goku's casual behavior around the Omni-King. Back in the future, Black is waiting on a rooftop when the pair emerges. Future Trunks engages him to buy time, but he is outmatched. Future Mai fires shots at Black and tells Future Trunks that he must be the one to survive. Black retaliates with a blast that appears to kill her. Stepping from the shadows, Black reveals that he wears the face of Goku.
