The Zero Mortal Project

Manga ChapterCh. 20

Black exploits the Saiyan ability to grow stronger after healing, using Future Zamasu's restoration to unlock Super Saiyan Rose. After a desperate retreat using Solar Flare, Goku proposes learning the Evil Containment Wave as their last hope against an unkillable god.

The Saiyan Power Exploit

Future Zamasu heals Black to full strength, and the heroes realize this second Zamasu is native to the alternate timeline. Black explains he could not fully access Goku's body at first, unable to even transform into a regular Super Saiyan. He discovered the key: the Saiyan trait of growing stronger after recovering from near-fatal injuries. Future Zamasu has been healing him repeatedly across parallel worlds, letting Black grow exponentially stronger each time. Vegeta engages again but Black now fights evenly with Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta is beaten down and recovers via Senzu Bean, yet gains nothing from it. Future Trunks theorizes that because Goku and Vegeta have pushed to their absolute limits through training, they can no longer gain Zenkais. After another healing from Future Zamasu, Black achieves a new pink-hued godly form: Super Saiyan Rose.

Immortality and Retreat

The battle splits into two fronts. Goku, as Super Saiyan Blue, overwhelms Future Zamasu in direct combat, but the god fights dirty with telekinesis, hurling debris and a sharp pole. Goku deflects the pole back through his chest and tells him to use the Dragon Balls to restore everything. Future Zamasu laughs: he destroyed the Dragon Balls after making his final wish, which was immortality. He heals instantly, steals and crushes the Senzu Beans, then freezes Goku with telekinetic force. On the other front, Black defeats Vegeta.

Escape to the Present

Future Trunks blinds both enemies with Solar Flare, a technique taught to him by Future Gohan. Goku proposes the Evil Containment Wave as their answer to immortality and describes how Master Roshi once used it to seal a demon. Black detects Future Mai's unmasked energy and pursues via Instant Transmission, but finds only decoys. Future Trunks ambushes both villains as a Super Saiyan 2, stabbing Future Zamasu and punching Black away so Goku and Vegeta can escape in the Time Machine.
