Brench-seijin

Race

Near-human aliens from the high-gravity Planet Brench whose physical adaptation makes them exceptionally fast and agile. The Ginyu Force member Jeice and Cooler's top henchman Salza are the two most prominent Brench-seijin in the series.

Speed Born from Heavy Gravity

The Brench-seijin are near-human in appearance, with varying skin pigmentation and hair colors that set them apart from Earthlings. Their homeworld, Planet Brench, designated Cooler No. 98 under the Frieza Clan's territorial system, possesses extremely high gravity. This environmental pressure shaped the species into naturally fast and agile fighters; when visiting planets with lesser gravity, Brench-seijin move with a speed and fluidity that can catch opponents off guard. They bleed purple blood, a detail confirmed through both Jeice and Salza during their respective battles.

Beyond their physical capabilities, the Brench-seijin appear to possess superior cognitive functions. Salza, described as the genius of his planet, could speak and catalogue over 7,000 different galactic languages, a staggering intellectual feat that speaks to the species' mental aptitude as much as their physical gifts.

Jeice, Salza, and the Art of the Pose

Jeice is the most recognizable Brench-seijin, serving as a core member of the Ginyu Force with his distinctive red skin and white hair. Known for his partnership with Burter as the "Purple Comet," Jeice specialized in combination attacks and energy-based techniques. He was present during the Ginyu Force's assault on Namek and was ultimately killed by Vegeta after the Saiyan prince's power increased dramatically. In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Jeice is shown as an already established member of the Ginyu Force during Frieza's takeover of the Saiyan Army in Age 732.

Salza occupied a similar elite role, serving as the leader of Cooler's Armored Squadron, Cooler's personal strike team. Where Jeice leaned into the theatrical posing culture of the Ginyu Force, Salza was a more refined operative, blending his intellectual gifts with deadly swordsmanship using ki-constructed blades. He appeared in the film Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge, where he proved to be a capable and dangerous fighter before meeting his end.

A Species with Range

The Brench-seijin produced a surprising variety of notable individuals beyond their two most famous members. Bonyu, introduced in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, was a former member of the Ginyu Force who left the team because she had no interest in the mandatory posing routines. Doola, a female Brench-seijin appearing in Dragon Ball Fusions, leads the Doola Force, a team of alien superheroines modeled after the Ginyu Force. These characters suggest that the Brench-seijin have a cultural connection to the Ginyu Force's theatrical style of combat, with multiple members gravitating toward elite squad structures. The species was integrated into the Frieza Clan's empire early, likely during King Cold's era, and their combination of speed, intelligence, and combat aptitude made them natural candidates for the organization's most prestigious units.
