Ikonda-seijin

Race

The native species of Planet Ikonda, a fruit-eating humanoid race roughly the size of Earthlings. Their most famous member is Cacao, who was converted into a half-cyborg Battle Cyborg to fight in an interstellar war on his homeworld before joining the Turles Crusher Corps.

Soldiers Built from Necessity

The Ikonda-seijin are the native inhabitants of Planet Ikonda, a world that was engulfed in an interstellar war severe enough to require the conversion of its people into cyborg soldiers. In their natural state, Ikonda-seijin are humanoids of average Earthling height who subsist on a diet of fruits. Very little else is known about their biology or culture in their unmodified form, as the only documented member of the race had already undergone extensive cybernetic enhancement by the time he appeared in the franchise.

The name "Ikonda-seijin" follows the standard Dragon Ball naming convention for alien races, literally translating to "People from Planet Ikonda." Their existence was first documented in the 1990 publication "Akira Toriyama: The World Anime Special."

Cacao and the Turles Crusher Corps

The sole known Ikonda-seijin to appear in the Dragon Ball franchise is Cacao, who features in the film Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might. By the time of his appearance, Cacao was no longer purely biological. He had been reconstructed as a Battle Cyborg, a half-organic, half-machine warrior built to serve in the war raging on his homeworld. How he transitioned from that conflict to serving under the rogue Saiyan Turles is never explained.

As a member of the Turles Crusher Corps, Cacao fought alongside other alien mercenaries in Turles's scheme to plant the Tree of Might on Earth and harvest its fruit for power. During the battle with the Z Fighters, Cacao confronted Yamcha, using his cybernetic enhancements to gain an advantage in combat before the Crusher Corps was ultimately defeated.

A Race Defined by War

The Ikonda-seijin are one of many Dragon Ball races whose entire characterization stems from a single member. Everything known about them comes from Cacao's background information, leaving the broader population, culture, and current status of Planet Ikonda entirely to speculation. Whether the interstellar war that prompted Cacao's cybernetic conversion was ever resolved remains unanswered.

Their story touches on a recurring theme in the Dragon Ball universe: the transformation of organic beings through technology in response to existential threats. In this sense, the Ikonda-seijin share thematic ground with characters like Android 17 and Android 18, though Cacao's conversion was born from wartime desperation rather than a mad scientist's ambition.
